On Monday night, UFC president Dana White announced lightweight top contender Nate Diaz (Pictured) signed an extension to remain with the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion.
“Just wrapped up another deal with @Natediaz209 and @cesargraciebjj,” White tweeted.
As customary with UFC contracts, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, the organization tends to ink their athletes to four-fight extensions.
Diaz first emerged onto the Octagon scene as the winner of “The Ultimate Fighter 5.” After taking his first five big league bouts, the 27-year-old went through a rough patch by losing five of his next eight scraps.
Since dropping back down to the lightweight class in September, Diaz has emerged a different fighter. Mr. 209 is perfect in his past three fights, with his last two coming against a couple of the division’s top tier contenders.
White confirmed over the weekend that Diaz gets next dibs at the 155-pound crown. He will face the winner of Saturday’s contest between current champ Benson Henderson and Frankie Edgar at UFC 150.

How much of a superstar is Ronda Rousey? Not only is she big enough where UFC president Dana White (Pictured) donned a shirt at Friday’s weigh-ins with her ESPN the Magazine cover plastered across it, but Showtime believes Strikeforce’s current bantamweight queen is box office enough to feature in her very own documentary.

I have been reading a lot of praise for Brandon Vera and his performance in his fight against Mauricio Shogun Rua…from Brandon Vera. Vera is very proud of the fight and feels that he has proven himself but for what, I am still trying to figure out.
Like most of the UFC President's 1st vlog's for any event this one gives you an in depth behind the scenes look at the promotions previous event. In this case, that event would be UFC on FOX 4: Shogun vs. Vera.

When Benson Henderson (Pictured) captured the lightweight crown, “Smooth” claimed he’d be down to fight any elite 155-pounder the UFC throws his way – including granting former champ Frankie Edgar an immediate rematch. Although UFC president Dana White begrudgingly arranged an instant sequel, this will be the last time in a long time.

The UFC and FOX Sports this past week announced a new innovative “Ref Cam” for Saturday’s card on FOX – but the Ref Cam never made it to the live telecast.
Dana White and his head of production said the Ref Cam is still a work in progress that will be used again in upcoming broadcasts.

While it could be said that Dana White and the UFC did not construct the most interesting of fight cards for Saturday’s live event on FOX, the fighters certainly delivered a night of exciting fights and finishes. More importantly, the FOX audience was finally able to see what mixed martial can be: an entertaining war between two ultra-tough, and ultra-talented athletes, where...
Plenty of stuff has transpired since Shaquille O'Neal first hit the Twittersphere and tweeted his desire to fight Jose Canseco. For O'Neal, an entire NBA season came and went which made the basketball legend (and current studio analyst) incredibly busy.
