Siyar Bahadurzada

UFC officials have announced that Siyar Bahadurzada will replace the injured Yoshihiro Akiyama in a bout against Thiago Alves at UFC 149. The severity of Akiyama’s injury has not been revealed.

UFC 149 takes place July 21 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The event will be headlined by a featherweight title bout between current UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and top contender Erik Koch.

Bahadurzada is 21-4-1 in his professional mixed martial arts career. He is currently riding a seven fight win streak and is 1-0 in the UFC thus far. He made his UFC debut in his last bout where he defeated Paulo Thiago via first round knockout at UFC on FUEL 2.

Alves is 19-9 in his professional mixed martial arts career. He is 2-3 in his past five bouts and is 11-6 in the UFC thus far. In his last bout he was defeated by Martin Kampmann via third round submission at UFC on FX 2.
