Ronda Rousey made some history today as she became the 1st female UFC World Champion, in addition to being the 1st woman signed to the organization. Prez Dana White awarded “The Bone Collector” the UFC bantamweight strap during a presser for UFC on FOX 5. Rousey’s first defense will be at UFC 157 as she takes on Liz Carmouche in the main event. I’m usually in favor of a champion being decided in the ring, but I can’t find fault with this move. Which is the exact opposite of how I felt in 2002 when Eric Bischoff just gave the World Heavyweight Championship to Triple H on an edition of Monday Night Raw. But that’s neither here nor there.
