Well, it appears fans are one step closer to never witnessing the most anticipated female fight in mixed martial arts history. On this week’s edition of AXSTV’s Inside MMA, Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos’ (Pictured) manager, better known as Tito Ortiz, revealed they have requested their release from the UFC. According to Ortiz, the UFC is offering his client a lucrative deal, but they want to “stick her over at Invicta.” The Brazilian is looking for a three-fight agreement, with a fourth scrap coming against current UFC bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey. However, Cyborg wants all of her bouts, including the blockbuster against Rousey, to take place at a weight no less than 140 pounds. Unfortunately for Ortiz and Co., it’s bantamweight or bust for women in the UFC. “Right now, we’re actually waiting for UFC to release her,” Ortiz stated. “We asked for them to release her. So, [UFC president Dana White] actually talked to me [Thursday]. They gave an offer, I went to Cyborg and she said she didn’t want to do it. And we just asked for a release. “Since they’re not having a 145-pound weight class, what else [can] they do? As of now, she’s gotta be released and maybe we’ll go look at somewhere else and you’ll be seeing Cyborg crush some other woman’s faces.” Ortiz reiterated that it is physically impossible for Cyborg to shed the 10 additional pounds required to drop to Rousey’s 135-pound division. Ortiz’s interview comes just 10 days after Cyborg put Rousey on blast, claiming she could beat the UFC’s new princess with one hand tied behind her back – IF they fought at 140 pounds. Rousey makes her big league debut at UFC 157 against Liz Carmouche. Cyborg’s year-long steroid suspension expired on December 17th. No word if the 27-year-old has tried to reapply for licensing.
