Rumor has it that current UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre has been cast as Captain America nemesis Batroc the Leaper in the 2014 release Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and if you ask MMA fans, the casting director couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate person for the role. Batroc, according to Wikipedia, has “no superhuman abilities, but is in peak physical condition in every respect. He is an Olympic-level weightlifter and has extraordinary agility and reflexes. His leg muscles are particularly well developed enabling him to leap great distances equal to an Olympic athlete. He is an expert hand-to-hand combatant and specializes in savate (French-style kickboxing). He is also a skilled military tactician, having formerly been in the French Foreign Legion.” The villainous Batroc is also bilingual in English and French, as is St-Pierre, and is an experienced thief and smuggler, two things that, so far as anyone knows, GSP has not dabbled in. Latino Review broke the news of GPS’s involvement in the film, via an exclusive scoop from a source within Marvel Entertainment… Just got off the phone with my Marvel source who gave me an Exclusive scoop… I’ve been told that mixed martial artist and current UFC Welterweight Champion, Georges St-Pierre aka GSP has been cast in Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. GSP will play one of the villains, Batroc the Leaper!!! St-Pierre definitely has the prerequisites required to play Batroc the Leaper, and despite his MMA career, still has a relatively unblemished face and movie star good looks to hold his own against the uber-handsome Chris Evans, aka Captain America. How GSP does acting wise remains to be seen, but don’t be surprised to see any critic that gives his acting ability less than favorable reviews to be on the receiving end of a GSP spinning kick.
