Although Josh Koscheck believes he should have left IZOD Center in New Jersey with a decision victory, the UFC’s official number crunchers claim Johny Hendricks (Pictured) rightfully took home the W on Saturday night.
Judges Jeff Blatnick and Cardo Urso each scored the bout 29-28 in favor of Hendricks, while Ricardo Almeida – yes, former UFC fighter Ricardo Almeida, had Koscheck winning by the same tally. According to FightMetric, the prior officials were correct.
The bearded brawler landed 55 significant strikes and Kos only connected on 33. Hendricks also tagged his opponent with 82 total strikes, whereas the former welterweight top contender merely scored 57.
Koscheck said he wasn’t going to complain about the loss because that’s the price he pays for allowing the judges to determine his fate. However, he believed he won the first and third rounds.
The Octagon’s third show on FOX took place Saturday inside IZOD Center in East Rutherford.
Here is the official box score for Hendricks vs. Koscheck (Feel free to click on the tabs to examine the different categories and rounds):
