This one has gotta sting a little

UFC welterweight powerhouse Rory MacDonald has suffered a serious injury during training and will not be able to avenge his loss against Carlos Condit in Montreal next month. MacDonald called out Condit immediately after punishing B.J. Penn on FOX last December. "Ares" said that Condit humiliated him, and he wanted his revenge in his hometown of Montreal.

The UFC was happy to oblige and Condit vs. MacDonald II was arranged to co-main event 'UFC 158: St. Pierre vs. Diaz'. A replacement opponent has yet to be announced for Condit, but former Strikeforce standout Tyron Woodley has made it clear that he is ready to go. It's also been rumored that final Strikeforce welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine could be tapped to replace MacDonald.  Let's make one thing clear though. This injury does not affect Condit in anyway.

I can't put myself in the head of any fighter but I can only assume that "The Natural Born Killer" could really care less who he fights next month in Montreal. One thing I can say for sure though is that Rory MacDonald wanted this rematch and he wanted it in the worst way. You can only hope that when he recovers, Carlos Condit is still available, and as relevant as he his now.

UPDATED: Johny Hendricks will take on Carlos Condit in the co-main event of UFC 158. Tarec Saffiedine turned down the opportunity to step in and take on Condit. Jake Ellenberger, Hendricks' former opponent, will likely remain on the card to face a TBA 170 pounder.
