"When they talk about the greatest fighters of all time, I don't ever hear my name coming up any more, and I'm just sick of it. I wanna get back to the glory days." - The Prodigy" B.J. Penn

"As a young kid, I looked up to BJ. As a man I don't anymore. He's just another fighter on his way to losing....to me." - Rory "Ares" MacDonald

"I want this fight with Shogun to be a stand up war." - Alexander "The Mauler" Gustafsson

"I will be looking for the perfect time to knock Alexander out." - "Shogun" Rua

"My best performance versus Nate Diaz's best performance, I leave the Octagon with my hand raised." - UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson

"Benson Henderson, he's tough. But, I don't think he's a better fighter than me." - Nate Diaz

From Hilo, Hawaii to Montreal, Canada. From Stockholm, Sweden to Curitiba, Brazil. From Lodi, California to Phoenix, Arizona. All roads lead to Seattle, Washington where these six men will compete on December 8th inside of the world famous Octagon.

The creative team over at FOX has put together another 'Road to the Octagon' feature, and this one is by far one of the best pieces of television I've personally seen in regards to where the sport is today.  We see how important family, friends, and location is to these men before they land in Seattle to do war with each other.

In B.J. Penn, you have the emotional superstar who has no interest in continuing to compete in this sport unless it's at the very top. The legendary Hawaiian feels that his best days are still ahead of him, and a new fire has been lit under him by an old adversary's (Firas Zhabi) young lion. His opponent, a dapper and soft spoken Rory MacDonald, is part of the next generation of MMA. He trains in all aspects of the arts, and has from a very young age. He's shown that he can rag doll under sized opponents, and on December 8th intends to make B.J. Penn second guess coming out of retirement.

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua has one goal on his mind. He craves a rematch with current Light Heavyweight Champion Jon "Bones" Jones. To achieve that he must get past the man many have already appointed as "The Mauler" that will dethrone "Bones". Alexander Gustafsson showed Stockholm, and the rest of the world back in April that he's ready for the big stage by dominating Shogun's fellow countryman Thiago Silva. Are Gustfasson and MacDonald a sign of the new guard eliminating the old guard?

In the main event of the evening, TUF 5 winner Nate Diaz will look to capture the the Lightweight Championship in the 17th fight of his UFC career. The 27-year-old Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu phenom will do everything in his power to bring the gold back to Lodi. Standing in his way will be one of the most complete champions the division has ever seen in "The Smooth One" Benson Henderson.
