For AJ Allmendinger; driver of the #22 Pennzoil Dodge for Penske Racing life is still hanging in the balance. Allmendinger had an “A” sample drug test come back positive for a “stimulant” just hours before the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona. A.J Allmendinger was temporarily suspended and replaced in the car by driver Sam Hornish Jr. Allmendinger also missed the race at Loudon, New Hampshire.
This morning, Allmendingers “B” sample is being tested by a lab in Nashville, TN. Allmendinger has his own toxicologist on hand to monitor the testing and results should be known within 18 hours. As early as Wednesday A.J Allmendinger could know the outcome of the B sample test, one that could affect the rest of his career.
Roger Penske said that if A.J’s B sample comes back negative he will be able to drive the car this weekend for the race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Penske has been nothing but supportive of their driver and even claim they still have an option on A.J for the 2013 season th...
