Tony Stewart is one of the best drivers to never win the Daytona 500. He’s made 14 starts in the February race and has yet to collect a win. He’s won 10 times in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series action at Daytona International Speedway, including the Shootout and the Duels, but he’s yet to win the big prize. Is this the year he finally does so? Stewart won last July’s Coke Zero 400 and his Duel race in February. He also finished second in the shootout to kick off Speedweeks. Unfortunately for Stewart, his string of bad luck in the 500 continued as he only finished 16th. Stewart is one of the best restrictor plate racers on the circuit and I believe this may be his year. He’s finally got Danica Patrick up in Cup competition and has drafting help to do so. If he can survive to get to the end I wouldn’t want to be in front of him. Stewart has won the Cup title multiple times, has won at nearly every track in every big race on the NASCAR schedule. He’s won a title for both JGR and his own team and won races for both as well. The last thing he’s missing is the Daytona 500 crown. Once he accomplishes that, I think he gives the Indianapolis 500 one more try. He knows his time to win his dream in the 500 in May is coming to an end. His last goal is to win the Daytona 500 on the NASCAR side. It’s time to accomplish this goal. Stewart has a ton of momentum from running well at DIS last season. Since 2004 he’s only finished outside the top 15 six times at Daytona including the duels and shootout. He’s done all of that in 36 races which is remarkable for a restrictor plate track. He’s going to get overlooked this year but I think he can win it.
