POINTS LEADER - Riding a wave of 10 consecutive top-10 finishes, Regan Smith and the No. 7 TaxSlayer.com team hold a 23-point lead over Sam Hornish Jr. in the Nationwide Series Championship battle. Smith is averaging a finish of 6.2 over the 10-race span. MEET REGAN SMITH AND BRAD SWEET AT JR NATION MERCH HAULER - Fans are invited to meet Regan Smith and Brad Sweet for an autograph session at the JR Nation merchandise hauler in the Michigan International Speedway fan concourse, beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 15. TO VISIT ESPN BROADCAST BOOTH - JR Motorsports co-owner, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is scheduled to join Allen Bestwick, Andy Petree and Dale Jarrett for some time in the ESPN broadcast booth during Saturday’s event at Michigan International Speedway. Earnhardt Jr. is a two-time winner at Michigan in both the Sprint Cup (2010, 2012) and Nationwide Series (1999, 2006). JRM AT MICHIGAN - JRM notched its seventh overall victory at Michigan in 2009. The team’s totals include one win, four top-fives and six top-10 finishes. JRM earned its second best-qualifying effort of 2012 at Michigan, when the No. 88 team qualified on the outside pole. The team’s fourth-place effort in the Michigan event also marked its third-best finish of 2012. JRM CHASSIS INFORMATION - Smith and the No. 7 team will unload chassis 800. This is a new chassis to the JRM stable and sees on-track action for the first time this weekend. Sweet and the No. 5 team will race chassis 782. Kasey Kahne raced 782 at Texas and Charlotte, earning respective finishes of eighth and second. HAVE A FAVORITE DRIVER? PROVE IT - JR Motorsports and Great Clips are asking fans to show their favorite driver via their haircut in The Great Fan Haircut Photo Contest. The requirements are simple: come up with creative, colorful, or unique hair designs that showcase your favorite driver, take a photo of yourself, and submit your entry to the JR Motorsports Facebook page. Prizes will be given to the top six photos with the most “likes”, including the grand prize of a VIP NASCAR weekend at Kansas Speedway on Oct. 5-6. That includes tickets and garage passes for both the Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series events, plus airfare and hotel expenses covered as part of the prize-winning package. BRAD SWEET ON MICHIGAN: “It’s a whole new week for us. We can put last weekend behind us and just move on. There is a drive to win every week, but I think everyone gives it their best effort at Michigan. It’s right in the manufacturer’s back yard and winning there comes with a lot of bragging rights for the team and manufacturer. With the fresh pavement, you’ll see a lot of speed there and the cars with a good combination of power and aero will be the frontrunners. “I feel good about our chances this weekend. We’re bringing one of our strongest cars up there. I know the team ran well with this car at Texas and Charlotte, so I’m excited to get racing.” REGAN SMITH ON MICHIGAN: “It’s been a good start to the season for us with the TaxSlayer Chevy. We certainly want to keep that rolling in Michigan and keep our momentum up. Ideally, we can build on our points lead this weekend. I know we’ve given up a few points over the last two weeks and now we have another opportunity to hopefully perform better. “I’ve enjoyed working with Greg (Ives) a lot this year. He is as even keeled as they come. Nothing seems to faze the guy. If we’re having a bad day on the race-track, he is the same tone as if we just won the race. He doesn’t let anything get to him, which in turn helps me because I have a tendency to get wound up very easily. He does a good job of keeping me focused and calm.”
