At the start of the race Juan Pablo Montoya got the best of the restart and the race lead. Joey Logano started to get hot and then took over the race lead on lap 25. On the next lap the competition yellow came out. The cars all pitted and Juan Pablo Montoya took over the race lead again.
As the green flag dropped Kasey Kahne wound up smoking big time as Jeff Gordon had a bad restart that wound up stacking up the field. Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Burton also got some damage from this.
