Our friends at NESN.com are the latest (Sactown Royalty and CelticsBlog) to jump on the Andres Nocioni-to-Boston trade bandwagon. For those unfamiliar with the 29-year old, 6-7, 220lb forward, Nocioni has averaged 11.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg for his career. According to DraftExpress, he's a physical player, a hustle guy who can shoot threes and score around the basket. So what's the problem? His salary, for starters. Here's the breakdown, according to HoopsWorld: 2009/10 - $7.5 million 2010/11 - $6.85 million 2011/12 - $6.65 million If the Kings wanted to shed his salary, they could accept the expiring contracts of Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine and J.R. Giddens or Bill Walker. With the Celtics over the cap, Nocioni's $6 million salary is doubled for Wyc and Co. because of the dollar-for-dollar luxury tax.Don't forget they have to extend Rajon Rondo and either resign Ray Allen or find his replacement.Nocioni is a decent player who could help them...

Tony Allen: Back too soon?

It's the obvious question after the Celtics latest tweet.TA didn't practice and is not expected to travel to New Jersey and Hartford for next two games. Here comes the barrage of "who gives a crap?" comments.  But we do have a vested interest in him being healthy and contributing.  Either he'll help the team with his play (stop laughing)... or he'll get SOME level of trade value...

Celtics win 4th-straight, 106-90

The Celtics have now reeled off 4 straight pre-season wins, beating down the Raptors Wednesday night, 106-90. According to some reports, KG has gone from dragging his knee around, to being as close to 100% as he's been in quite some time. Wish I could say that I could agree, but since I haven't been able to see a game yet (thanks Directv), I'll have to take those observations as...

Ray Allen Helps Celtics Win in Connecticut

Playing in an arena he once called home, Ray Allen did something he always did in his college days. He won. In the early 1990’s, Allen went 26-0 under Jim Calhoun’s Huskies in that arena (now called the XL Center). Allen finished with eight points, six rebounds, and four assists to help the Celtics get an easy win, [...]

Big 3 Will Play, 'Sheed Doubtful

According to Greg Dickerson, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett will all play in tonight's game versus the Toronto Raptors. Dickerson projects each will play about 20-25 minutes.Despite the minor ankle sprain, Rasheed Wallace was taking part in pre-game shootaround. However, Dickerson suspects Sheed will not suit up for the game. There was no update on Marquis Daniels' status...

Ray Allen and the big three

Random Thoughts on the Celtics Win over the Nets

(photos courtesy of Yahoo) I got to see this game live as Direct TV finally has begun showing the preseason games. I really like the fact that they offered both the Celtics feed and the Nets feed. I hope they continue to do that during the season. I love watching Mike and Tommy and getting the commentary through green colored glasses. Every season I have sent suggestions...

Sheed Tweaks Ankle

Sheed Tweaks Ankle "Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce took the night off. And Marquis Daniels (stomach ailment) and Rasheed Wallace (mild right ankle sprain) missed much of the action."

Working out some final details

Opening night is a couple of weeks away... and the starting unit is pretty much comfortable with each other.  Sure, there are some tweaks to the way things have been done in the past (like Kendrick Perkins getting some more touches), but overall... these guys don't need much more game time.  Meanwhile, there are still some second unit questions... so Doc's giving the starters a...

Do We Really Need Much More From KG?

KG's line from last night's game: 16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks in 22 minutes. This production is enough to help us win a title (Had he been able to give us half that in the playoffs last year, we would have blown past Orlando). Yes, the numbers will increase with the minutes, but KG's emotional leadership is more valuable than his stats. He helps set the tone defensively in the...
