The Maine Red Claws have announced that they will be affiliated with the Boston Celtics and the Charlotte Bobcats this season. This will make it much easier for the Celtics to send players back and forth. Since they will be so close players who are assigned to the D-League can still be involved with the parent club for some things and not have to travel across the country to do so. The Celtics have used the D-League in the past for their first year players and this year, possible D-League candidates may be JR Giddens, Bill Walker, or Lester Hudson, depending on how quickly these players are developing and if they can earn minutes on the parent club. The GM and president of the Red Claws is former Celtics assistant coach, Jon Jennings and so there are deep connections between the Celtics and their new affiliate that go way back.
