The Celtics came out of the gates slowly, but it isn't how you start. It's how you finish. And the Celtics finished strong, knocking off the Cavs 95-89. The good thing about this game, outside of the win, is that there's one less game in which I have to watch LeBron James, Side Show Bob, and Humpty Dumpty play. Hooray for me. KG came through unscathed, though he did take a couple of punishing blows from the blob known as Shaq. 'Sheed looked good out there, immediately making an impact by knocking down a three and collecting a rebound in his first couple of minutes. Marquis looked good as well, showing is ability to finish around the rim. Ray Allen was already in post-season form, shooting 5-26 from the floor. Kendrick Perkins has a nice little mid-range jump shot that he seems very comfortable taking. Shelden Williams looked like he had been with the team for months, rather than weeks. Rondo was Rondo - brilliant as he was frustrating. And Pierce was Pierce, coming through in the clutch yet again in the 4th quarter. Game 2 is tomorrow night at the Garden. Doc explains Ray's minutes
The Boston Celtics have played 96 minutes of basketball so far this season. Ray Allen has played 80:22 of those minutes. I started bitching about it yesterday... and then I continued last night on Twitter. I got a lot of "it's too early to start on this" type of comments... which I understand. But at least I'm not the only one who noticed.Today on Dennis...
Lester Hudson is a better 3 point shooter than Ray Allen
Ball Don't Lie has compiled a list of preseason statistical oddities... and among them...Eddie House made nearly five times as many three-pointers as Ray Allen. Hell, something named a "Lester Hudson" made more three-pointers
than Allen, who missed 15 of 19 looks from downtown during the preseason.A great non-Celtics one: Larry Hughes missed all 20 shots he...
Maybe guys should start upfaking LeBron or something
LeBron's chase-down blocks on Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen were spectacular. Here's the thing... it's kinda becoming his "thing." Maybe guys should stop and up-fake... or try to glide under the hoop and go for the reverse lay up. Cuz 'Bron is comin... ain't no doubt about that. Time for plan B.Hat Tip: BDL via BallerBlogger
Comments from the Other Side - Cavs 10/27
I just have this feeling we are gonna drop this one. PROVE ME WRONG CAVS!!!!!!!
Let's Go Cav's!!!! I have been waiting for this game since we went down in Orlando. I know the Cav's are the real deal this season. The Celtics will be going home sad that they are starting the season 0-1.
I hate to lose to Rasheed Wallace. I really hate to lose to Boston. Loss...
Could LeBron Win Defensive Player of the Year?
Premature, sure. But it is not like LeBron James just started blocking shots and playing the passing lanes like few others before him. Last night’s blocks on Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen are likely just the tip of the iceberg.
James was second in the league in DPoY voting last season, and will likely get a [...]

Solid Bench + Clutch Plays = Big Road Win
This quote from Doc Rivers sums up last night's win over the Cavaliers:“The second unit saved the game for us,’’ coach Doc Rivers said. “And then the first unit down the stretch won the game for us.When Doc began substitutions late in the 1st quarter, the Celtics were trailing 21-12. When all the starters returned to the floor with 4 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, the...

Pierce, Celtics spoil Cavaliers' debut of LeBron, Shaq
Paul Pierce scored 23 points, Ray Allen 16 and Kevin Garnett 13 in his first regular-season game since last March as the Boston Celtics beat Cleveland 95-89 on Tuesday night in the NBA season opener, spoiling the hyped debut of the Cavaliers with LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal.
Oct 27: Celtics 95, Cavs 89
The AP reports: Boston’s Big Three—plus Rasheed—spoiled Cleveland’s overhyped season opener on Tuesday night with a 95-89 win over the new-look Cavaliers, who may have LeBron James and Shaq but appear to be a long way from true title contenders. Paul Pierce scored 23 points, Ray Allen 16 and Kevin Garnett 13 in his first [...]
