Filed under: Hornets, Magic Darren Collison didn't improve his NBA Draft position by staying all four years at UCLA, but it certainly has saved the New Orleans Hornets this season, keeping their playoff hopes afloat. This is no ordinary late-first-round pick. Collison, chosen 21st overall in the 2009 Draft, has played surprisingly well for an unheralded rookie after replacing All-Star point guard Chris Paul, who is out another four weeks following knee surgery. After Paul limped off the court Jan. 29 against Chicago, Collison replaced him with a 17-point, 18-assist performance in an overtime victory against Memphis. He followed with 16 points and 14 assists against Phoenix, becoming just the third NBA rookie in the last 20 years to have 14-plus assists in back-to-back games. "He looks like a guy who has the confidence, and a strong understanding on how to play. He knows what his team needs from that position,'' said New Orleans coach Jeff Bower before playing th...

What the Hell Are the Hornets Wearing

I know New Orleans is getting ready for Mardi Gras and is in Super Bowl celebration mode, but how can anyone explain these? Purple on the front, yellow on the sides and green in the back with maybe a little rhinestone trimming? Paul Lukas must be rolling in his grave... wait he loves it? I'm confused. At least David West looks disgusted by it.

Replacing Chris Paul

The no-brain waiver move of the week is to pick up Darren Collison, whose fantasy value is through the roof due to Chris Paul’s injury. Problem is, grabbing Collison was such an obvious move that many fantasy owners snapped up the rookie on Sunday evening when Yahoo! Sports broke the news that Paul would need [...]

Charlotte Bobcats lose to the New Orleans Hornets 104-99

There are many good ways to spend a Saturday evening. Unfortunately for us Bobcats fans, none of those ways involved anything that happened in last night's Bobcats game. For starters, we had Emeka Okafor come back to town. Emeka is a nice guy, and to be honest with you he was one of my favorite players during his time as a Bobcat. With that being said, it was more than a little...

Cite the New Orleans Hornets for theft.

A loss that raised questions

Some post-mortem on a home loss Saturday: -- There's no shame in losing to the New Orleans Hornets. But the pattern of this loss was troubling because it broke with the identity this team has established. The Bobcats count on...

Game preview: New Orleans Hornets at Orlando Magic, Monday, 8

Hornets at Magic, 8 tonight

History in the Making: Sixers Go for Fourth Straight in Houston

And they said it couldn't be done. That's right--last night, your Philadelphia 76ers did the unthinkable, actually winning a third-straight game last night against the New Orleans Hornets. Sure, it was with the Hornets missing both their best player (Chris Paul) and their best reserve (Marcus Thorton), but I'm pretty sure it counts as a W anyway. Remarkably enough, with...

Vince Carter's 48 points help Orlando Magic rally for 123-117 win over New Orleans Hornets

New Orleans Hornets (27-24) at Orlando Magic (33-17), 8 p.m.

The Orlando Magic hope to carry the momentum from their big win at Boston into tonight's home tilt versus the New Orleans Hornets at Amway Arena.

Game to pay attention to: Spurs vs. Lakers

San Antonio at Los Angeles Lakers Part of me - a big part of me - wants to point you toward Golden State and the Mavericks. Those two teams, even before the classic 2007 playoff series, have gone at it for years. People may not have been paying attention - remember this nonsense? It happened the same night as this brilliance - but the Warriors and Mavericks are natural enemies. Dog...

Billups Key Addition for Team USA's World Championships Player Pool

Filed under: NuggetsWhen Chris Paul went down with a knee injury last month, there became even more of a sense of urgency for USA Basketball to have another veteran point guard in the mix for the World Championships this summer in Turkey. It's Chauncey Billups to the rescue. FanHouse has learned the Denver Nuggets point guard has agreed to have his name in a list of about 25...
