The Sixers appear to have taken care of their last piece of off-season business: ESPN.com is reporting that they have signed Andre Iguodala to a 6 year, 80 million dollar deal. Iguodala was a restricted free agent, and no team really had enough money to pay him, so it was only a matter of time before he re-signed with the Sixers. While 80 million does seem like a ton of money, Iguodala is a crucial part to the Sixers future. In the last few years he has proven that he might not have what i...

Glad to see the Sixers take care of business. They are now set for next season.

good move for sixers, may have over paid alittle but 6 years will let iggy prove us wrong. i love this deal and this team will be very competitive, Stefanski is doing a damn good job taking care of our players and bringing in the correct talent to take this team to next level.

Well i am hearing that it is 71 million with 9 comin in incentives. looks pretty good now. we winning it within 5 years
  • Finally here comes a guy who is willing to bring in the big names as well as pay his players the money they deserve maybe the eagles need to hire ED ''SHOW ME THE MONEY" STEFANSKI lol

I heard it's 80 million and that there still working out the additional incentive/bonus clauses. So this could potentially reach more. I'll admit that this is a lot and it's more then what I felt Iggy was gonna get but hey, he's a piece to our puzzle and we got a team who can potentially contend for a few years now. Let's get ballin!!!
  • I'm glad its done man now maybe one more piece and we should be ok

All they need to do is sign a center to fill in for Jason Smith (Theo???) and they've got a top 4 seed locked.
  • yea maybe theo
  • philly5
Agreed they probably can't do much more maneuvering prior to this upcoming season but the group they have in place should be able to make a run for a couple years. As constructed, there a top 4 seed who could do some damage to any team in the East but they need another piece like a outside shooter to get over the top which they can add next offseason. All in all, I'm liking the moves and non moves Eddie S has done. Oh and Bill King would have given Iggy like 90+ if he was still here.

  • PHILLYMP03
you really thought they were gonna let him go?
  • RayZoe
Well it's about time! I don't know why it took so long when we knew we had to get it done.
  • Can't do anything more this year, but Sixers have mid-level excetion next year.

Iguodala - Should have gone to Europe........

Speaking of Philly, 76er's might stink worse than the Eagles will this year.......I love that there are plenty of Philly haters on IGN...

This is good, Ed Stafanski is takin care of business. You identify a need (PF) then u go sign one of the best free agents on the market (Brand).I hope he talks to Banner about the philosophy of running a team.
  • mrswag
Not to mention managing to sign all of your major contributors from the previous year. Kudos to the Sixers
  • Ed stefanski was at the Phillies game at LA and he said that they are still working on he deal and it is not signed. So hold your horses guys.

I still think that the Sixers are gonna surprise a lot of people this year. Glad to see them signing the right people...it's actually sort of odd to see it happen.
  • Iggy! Nice!

now its time to get back to the finals

I think they overpaid a bit, but this shows that they're willing to commit to players who work hard and I think Iggy will improve his mid range jumper and become a serious threat with Brand as a teammate. If we could somehow trade Willie Green to Utah and bring back Korver somehow........lol
  • That's fine that Iggy got his money but now they are capped out. Outside of Kareem Rush they don't have any consistent scorers. Iggy has not proven to be a consistent scorer and he is expected to play shooting guard. He is young but has been in the league for five years. Have we seen the best Iggy has to offer or can he still improve to be a consistent scoring threat the Sixers desperately need. If he cannot turn into that player than how do the Sixers fill that role with no money left? By overpaying Iggy they hurt his trade value if he doesn't blossom into a superstar. Who is the real Iggy, the Iggy we saw get shut down against Detroit or the Iggy we saw during the regular season or a mixture of both. I'm not saying Iggy is not a good player but he's getting paid almost as much as Elton Brand, Elton Brand is a proven superstar, Iggy is not.

It would also be a stretch to call Kareem Rush a consistent scorer. This deal is an investment into Iggy and his development into becoming a superstar. With Brand around, things will be easier for Iggy.

iggy is a consistent scorer dont get shooting mixed up with total points and for all the people that think iggy should not get that type of money dont know the bizz ok how about this im Ed.... hey iggy we no your the reason the fans come to the games we no you put on a show for them you make us millons but we wont pay you big bucks because you dont have a consistent jumper even if you put up 19 to 30 points and get the fans to come pay us for iggy pics and shirts and 6 dollers for a hot dog LOL iggy even if the fans pay to see you we wont give you any of this money who cares what the other players in the draft got we dont care if you put up the same numbers and sell more tickets we wont pay you cause you cant shoot

You dont average 19ppg in the NBA if you are not a good player. Good grief charlie brown, the guy is young, hell we lost to a veteran team(detroit) and now we got more pieces to the puzzle. This could be good
