Anthony (Tony) Allen was born on January 11, 1982 in Chicago, Illinois. Another player raised in a single parent home, Tony was raised by his mother Ella Allen. He has two sisters, Ebony and Dominique, and a brother, Ryan. In his spare time, Tony enjoys listening to music, and is considered somewhat of a music "connoisseur" by his Celtic teammates. He also frequently assists the Celtics in charity work in and around the Boston area. Allen attended Crane High School in Chicago, where he was a basketball standout. Tony Allen came from a tough part of Chicago and he has said that most of his high-school friends are either dead or in jail. Tony was able to get out of the neighborhood by playing junior college basketball. He played hard enough for Oklahoma coach Eddie Sutton to notice him. And so, while Tony couldn’t get into a Division I program out of high school, Oklahoma State offered him a second chance. That second chance ultimately led Tony to a trip to the Final Four, a...

Kevin Garnett Looks Damn Good
I hate to make assumptions after the first preseason game, but Kevin Garnett appears to be healthy and well, he looks like the old KG. The intensity and energy only KG can bring to a game was back. He finished with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals in 13 minutes. And most importantly, I didn't see him limp or favor the leg in any way.Rasheed Wallace (6 points, 3 blocks and 1...
Slim Perk is more nimble
The Celtics stormed out of the gates last night and made it clear in the first 8 minutes of the game that they're going to be pretty good this year. KG looked like hie same old self, minus a little bit of his explosion. Pierce and Ray made some familiar looking strong plays on offense. Rondo calmly set the offense and made a couple of plays on defense. And Kendrick Perkins...
Whatever happened to Joe Forte?
The 2000-2001 season wasn't a very good one in Boston. We were mired in what would be the final year of the Rick Pitino debacle. The Lakers were on their way to repeating as champs while we managed only 36 wins. But by the time the 2001 NBA draft rolled around, Pitino was gone, and the Celtics had THREE first round picks. They had a budding young star in Paul Pierce. Antoine...

Outside of Kevin Garnett, it's possible that no player has more riding on this pre-season than J.R. Giddens. Why? Because October 31 marks the date by which the Celtics must determine whether they want to pick...

Garnett makes return as Celtics falter in fourth
Kevin Garnett scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in his first action since aggravating a right knee injury last March 25 as the Celtics couldn't hold the lead in the fourth against the Houston Rockets in a 96-90 loss Wednesday night.

Shannon Brown posterizes Mikki Moore
What a way to announce to the world that the NBA is back in season. It might only be the preseason, but Shannon Brown’s dunk over Mikki Moore might end up being the dunk of the year. It leaves me pretty much speechless.
Allen in shape to contribute
Ray Allen is often compared with Reggie Miller because of his shooting prowess and wiry frame. Allen turned 34 in July and would like to emulate Miller in another way: remaining a productive player into his late 30s.
