Rasheed
There was a firestorm of activity surrounding Gary Tanguay's statement on Sports Tonight on Monday. On the early show he stated that Rasheed Wallace to Boston was as good as done. Then on the late edition, he stated that it was his feeling that Sheed would sign with Boston because KG wants him there and Boston wants him and Sheed wants to come to Boston. That isn't what we heard from Ric Bucher last week. Bucher posted on Twitter that Sheed didn't want Boston in spite of KG calling. Now, Tanguay says that Sheed wants to come to Boston. He sounded pretty certain that it would happen and that makes me think he has heard some things that would lead him to come out on the air and say that Sheed was coming to Boston. I think I would rather Antonio McDyess for several reasons. One is character. I think that McDyess would fit on this team better. Another is motivation. Rasheed isn't always motivated and he already has a ring. I think McDyess would be more motivated because, like...

Stephon Marbury Really, Really Like Us

Via the Boston Globe:“I’m not trying to get a bunch of money,’’ Marbury said. “I know Boston doesn’t have a bunch of money. I’m not seeking out teams with more money. I want to play for a championship-contending team. I can’t play for a young team that’s not in a position to compete for a championship.“I want to play in Boston. I’m...

Stephon Marbury Spouts Off About D'Antoni

Okay, here is what Stephon Marbury just said: "I wouldn't want to play in that system," Marbury told The Post. "That system can't win championships. You can't win championships if you don't talk about defense. In Boston, the coaches even play defense."Where to start? First off, realize that I actually like Starbury a bit. He's exciting to...

Back from the Brink: Kudos to Antonio McDyess

This is the vision of Antonio McDyess I remember best. Hunched over, looking a bit battered. It was six years ago, during the 2003-04 season, when McDyess was a Knick. And for anyone who'd ever watched basketball, he was clearly a player on the way out. Beaten down. Fragile. Fighting an uphill battle with his heart against a body that simly couldn't and wouldn't keep up.To understand...

Stephon Marbury would advise you against signing with the Knicks

Stephon Marbury told the New York Post's Marc Berman that he thinks star players should be cautious about signing with the Knicks and playing in Mike D'Antoni's system. Shocking, I know. Here's what Starbury had to say: "I wouldn't want to play in that system," Marbury told The Post. "That system can't win championships. You can't win...

Ainge's late night courting

Not only is Rasheed Wallace on the Celtics' radar, but Danny Ainge and Leo Papile went the extra mile, showing up on Wallace's doorstep soon after midnight: (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AmFU6hyuvU7VtLOb0C.XsUy8vLYF?slug=aw-gordonvillanueva070109&prov=yhoo&type=lgns)Sources say Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge and assistant director of basketball operations...

The courtship continues

The courting of rasheed Wallace is beginning to resemble that of a pimply teenager chasing after the Homecoming Queen. Here's the latest: (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-celticswallace070109&prov=yhoo&type=lgns)Here’s how badly the Boston Celtics believe Rasheed Wallace can be the difference in winning an 18th NBA championship next season: Coach Doc Rivers and...

Stephon Marbury Does Not Heart New York At All

Yesterday we learned about Brandon Marshall’s feelings for the city of Denver and that he hates that “f—— city.”  Now today we learn of another disgruntled athlete and his lack of love for the place he had to play in the last few years. Stephon Marbury will hit the free agent market today along with plenty [...]

Oh yeah... Lester Hudson was in town today

So we've been going nuts today with the Rasheed Wallace/Leon Powe stories... we almost overlooked the fact that Lester Hudson was in town today. He did the whole 'hold up the jersey' thing (he'll wear #26)... he took (and made) a lot of jumpers in a few shooting drills... and he said all the right things."I'm fortunate to be drafted by the Boston Celtics," says Hudson. "I have a...

Random Thoughts as Free Agency Begins

Gary Tanguay was just on the phone on Sports Tonight and said that sometime soon, Rasheed Wallace and his family will be in Boston to check out the area and talk to the Celtics. Rasheed was just in Dallas, but Tanguay didn't know if it was to meet with the Mavericks or just to visit Dallas. But he was certain that Sheed would be meeting with the Celtics and that they would...

Steph wants to come back

While there are still questions surrounding what Eddie House will do with his option, and how far the Celtics will go to retain Big Baby, there is no question where Stephon Marbury wants to be next season: (http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/extras/celtics_blog/2009/06/davis_to_get_qu.html?camp=localsearch:on:twit:celtics)And free agent guard Stephon Marbury said he...

MARBURY: STARS SHOULDN'T SIGN WITH KNICKS

Stephon Marbury, who becomes a free agent again today, believes star players should be cautious about signing with the Knicks because of Mike D'Antoni's offensive scheme and the way the organization treats people. "I wouldn't want to play in...

Starbury Tells Free Agents to Avoid the New York, Lashes Out at Knicks

by Will BrinsonFiled under: Celtics, Knicks, NBA Media Watch, NBA RumorsStephon Marbury is one of those weird characters who has just the right mix of "crazy" and "keepin' it real" where you can't ever be really sure whether to totally trust or distrust him. Personally, I think he's a bad apple who keeps getting too many chances, but some people feel...
