by Tom ZillerFiled under: Magic, Trail Blazers, NBA Rumors, NBA TransactionsHenry Abbott of TrueHoop is reporting that the Blazers have landed top free agent Hedo Turkoglu for the princely sum of $50 million (or more) over five years. Hedo had been the expected target of Portland's largess before the Magic acquired Vince Carter. That move made this move rather logical from every perspective.... well, except the perspective that it's unclear exactly why Portland needs a ball-dominant small forward. After all, the Blazers do have one Brandon Roy, eternal All-Star, under contract. And with Roy dominating the ball this season, the Blazers finished with the league's finest offense. In terms of offense, this is a bit like the Lakers adding Ron Artest: sounds good on the surface, but when you look at the details, you get a bit worried.Report: Portland Lands Hedo originally appeared on Fanhouse NBA Blog on Fri, 03 Jul 2009 16:41:00 EDT . The Accidental Superstar
It’s been over a decade since Vince Carter entered the League. In that time, he’s accomplished amazing feats on the court and gained love from the fans in the process. Sometimes, though, especially upon exiting Toronto, VC has been the recipient of ridicule. People accused him of not going his hardest, and of not caring enough about winning. In the last few years, playing...
Nets addition can help to subtract
When the Nets traded Vince Carter to the Magic last week, they got rid of their most potent offensive weapon. More importantly, they also slashed Carter's remaining $33.6 million salary from their books.

Word in the streets is Hedo is a Blazer
I'm hearing that the Blazers have agreed to a deal (in principle) to a 5 year 50 mil deal with Hedo Turkoglu (Turkey glue) to some. I like the idea of having Hedo ont he team but I am concerned about chemistry. We have worked really hard to get where we are and fan lyalties are going to be with guys like Rudy, Martel, and Travis. Who are we going to have to say goodbye to to make...
Hedo Turkoglu Spurns Trail Blazers for Raptors
ESPN is reporting that Toronto is giving him five years and $53 million. In addition, he won't have those pesky playoffs ruining his summers. Ric Bucher says that Hedo did visit Portland, where a deal appeared all but certain, but ultimately decided that because Toronto was closer to his native Turkey, has a large Turkish population, and is a "cosmopolitan city"......
Does the Artest deal help the C's?
Interesting theory explained on The CMSB. Here's one of the 4 reasons:How bad does Sheed look if he signs with another team for more money? Currently it sounds like the Spurs, Mavs, and Magic are in play (hat tip to Gary Tanguay's Twitter page).
If he signs with San Antonio, it looks alright. If he signs with the
other two for more money (or slightly more money...

Up and Down, Round and Round...
...the free agency carousel spins on.But first, a look back at the draft. I don't really follow college basketball closely, so outside of the top prospects, I have limited and uninformed opinions on the players being chosen. Especially in the second round, when the Spurs tend to select. So imagine my surprise when the Spurs drafted not one but two potential impact players...
