With the Cavs dealing for Shaquille Oneal, they did more than shore up their front-line and improve their overall team dynamic. They also assured that Kendrick Perkins will (barring some incredible trade) remain in Boston. While the Cavs and Shaq now match up better with Orlando and Dwight Howard, they may have actually become a better matchup for the Celtics. Perkins (and Big Baby Davis, if re-signed) have a history of playing Shaq pretty well. In fact, they play Shaq significantly better than they play Big Z. So while many pundits are going to take this trade and etch Cleveland's name onto the 2010 Eastern Conference Champions trophy, it's the Celtics that may become the main benificiaries of the deal. I'm not saying that Cleveland didn't improve themselves with this trade (they did), but they may have also unintentionally improved the Celtics as well. Obviously, anything can happen. But with Shaq now in the East, the Celtics cannot afford to lose their big man in the middle, who is arguably the best post defender in the NBA. Thanks, Cleveland.

Just a reminder, Magic C Dwight Howard will be making his television talk show debut tonight. He will be on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon at 12:35 tonight on NBC.

Smoke and Mirrors

I don't remember ever seeing as many conflicting stories and rumors surrounding the team as I have seen this off season. It seems as though every day there is a new trade rumor and every day there is a new denial or conflicting statement from Danny Ainge. It all started with the rumor from the Suns that Danny offered Rondo and Ray for Amare Stoudamire, Leandro Barbosa and the 14th...

Details on Dwight Howard’s Movie

Though his reps sort of deny the movie’s existence, let’s just say that should filming begin this summer, it doesn’t sound like an Oscar winner: “ORLANDO Magic star Dwight Howard is working with ‘The Ring’ executive producer Michele Weisler on a movie titled ‘Switch,’ about a ‘white, unathletic, unpopular high-school freshman who swaps basketball skills with Howard...

It’s No Blockbuster, but LeBron and the Cavs Get Shaq

It’s really too bad Danny Ferry couldn’t have pulled this off four months ago. Then, maybe the entertainingly fraudulent Cavs get by Dwight Howard and the Magic in the playoffs, and NBA Finals soar to astronomical heights for Shaq/LeBron vs. Kobe. Perhaps this was all a plan - save it for next year, as a [...]

The Big Witness

: Shaquille O'Neal was traded today to the Cleveland Cavs in exchange for Sasha Pavlovic, Ben Wallace, and 2nd round draft pick. With Dwight Howard becoming more dominant offensively, Shaq can help the Cavs greatly by defending Dwight Howard. Shaq uses his size to disrupt opposing teams both physically and mentally. One of Shaq's greatest assets is the way he can get the leading...

This is Insane, I think?

OK, so I was checking out Yahoo Sports this morning and I came across this video that they posted of an 8th grader in Ohio making a ridiculous basketball trick shot. I'm not sure what to make of it because it sure looks legit. One camera, on You Tube, not the highest of quality but aside from the title graphics at the beginning, it looks pretty convincing. If this is legit, it sure...

Such an unpredictable Draft ended up being pretty predictable

We're just going to come right out and say it: Yesterday's NBA Draft was a huge dud. We're big Draft guys -- football, basketball, even baseball (to an extent) -- and even made the effort to watch this one at a bar that was showing it on a corner-of-the-room TV that didn't have sound. That's Draft dedication. But that dedication didn't pay off. We weren't in it just to see a small...

NCAA Coaches Critical of NBA Age Limit

by Terrance HarrisFiled under: Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Big 12, NBA ProspectsCould the NBA and its minimum age requirement really be guilty of hypocrisy? It certainly appears that way to Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel and some other Big 12 coaches after watching the most recent NBA Finals and seeing which NBA players were pushed as the faces of the league throughout the season. The straight...

Talking To Chicks Who Love Hoops: The Big Trade Piece

Shaq going to Cleveland was one of the many trades that rocked the NBA world. This may be Shaq's last chance to get a ring and this may be Cleveland's last chance to get a championship before LeBron James goes into the 2010 free agent market. I got reaction from my favorite NBA friends about this trade and how it affects their teams. Yup. Them chicks who love hoops. PAIGE Okay...

Shaq to Cleveland: Does this impact LeBron in 2010?

Yahoo! Sports was the first to report that the Phoenix Suns will trade center Shaquille O'Neal to the Cleveland Cavaliers to join LeBron James in hopes of bringing Cleveland its first NBA title. O'Neal would be trying for his fifth NBA title. ESPN and The Associated Press also reported the trade. Cleveland will send center Ben Wallace, guard Sasha Pavlovic, a second-round draft...
