Aside from the wack officiating in the first half of Game 2, the biggest controversy could be the truth behind Paul Pierce's knee injury. For the past 3 days, I have read so much about it that I don't even know what to believe anymore. Some say Pierce faked the whole thing, from the crumpling to the floor in agony to the wheelchair shenanigans to his eventual inspirational comeback. They claim that somebody who suffered an injury like that (and required the afore-mentioned wheelchair) simply should not have been able to come back 2 minutes later. If it was that bad, they said, then Pierce should have been unable to play-hell, walk-for a week, at the very least. I have to admit, even I was skeptical at first. I mean, knee injuries are no joking matter, and the Lakers have Andrew Bynum as proof of that. So anytime a knee is damaged, it truly is a cause for concern. Even Pierce said he heard a "pop", so it must be real. But when he returned quicker than lions ...

Danica's Tattoo Ticks Off SI?

It seems that in the most recent issue of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED's swimsuit issue, the folks at SI decided to give part-time race car driver and full-time media darling Danica Patrick the Allen Iverson Treatment by airbrushing out her back tattoo. And we have the pics as proof...

Let it get away

If you were watching the game you know that I injured my ankle in the third quarter. It happened on a fast break and I rolled it. I think I may have stepped on someone's foot, but I still haven't seen the play. It's a different feeling than I've ever had. I've injured my ankle before but this one is unlike the others. The pain is on the inside of my foot. All...

AI wants out via Lou Williams

Philadelphia 76ers reserve guard Lou Williams told Philadelphia’s WMMR’s Preston and Steve morning show that Allen Iverson, whom he still keeps in touch with, is unhappy as a member of the Detroit Pistons. At this point what does it matter?  It still remains to be seen if the Pistons can integrate Iverson in any way, shape, [...]

Fantasy Basketball SOS: March 2-8

The Pistons finally ended their eight-game losing streak on Friday with a 95-85 win over Orlando. It probably isn’t a coincidence that Allen Iverson didn’t play. With AI (back) out of the mix, the Pistons moved Rip Hamilton back into the starting lineup – reuniting three-fifths of the championship starting five, with ...

Leave Bill Plaschke Alone, Boston!

I'm sure most of you read or heard last Friday but Bill Plaschke wrote the Paul Pierce faked his Game One injury and even went so far as to label it "WWE-like" in its execution. Obviously Boston fans were upset, and let him have a piece of their mind. Plaschke wrote a detailed piece yesterday about some of the comments and it's pretty hilarious. Here's a...

We're Up 2-0

Well Yardbarkers it got a little scary in the end but we made it two in a row tonight. It was a great team effort and our crowd made a big difference. They were into it and brought so much energy - I felt them the entire night. Tonight was all about getting into the paint and creating shots for my teammates. I take pride in getting the guys the ball and they were hitting the shots...

The Lefty Guard Barack Obama , Chris Paul, and The Trade Deadline

Embedded video from CNN VideoAs a left handed person, this is the first time I’ve ever heard anything good about a lefty in basketball since Lefty Drizzel. CNN got quite an assortment of former and current players to break down President Obama’s game. They go a little soft on el Presidente, but considering we desperately need a point guard who knows how to pass and screen away...

So Much for those Historic Bynum vs. Oden Match-ups

Wait! Shhhhhhhh. Did you hear that? Yep, that was Andrew Bynum’s MCL tearing. Lakers’ fans’ hearts shattering. Plus his career probably a step closer to ending. Anyone else NOT feeling bad for Lakers’ fans right now? How much garbage was ...

Finals: Between Game Thoughts

So much is being made of Pierce's return after the injury. Phil Jackson's classless remarks reminded me why I really don't like the guy. He had this to say: Paul got carried off and was back on his feet in a minute," Jackson said. "I don't know if the angels visited him in that time-out period or what, but he didn't even limp when he came back...

Kobe Doesn't Know the Meaning of Ubuntu

In his blog, Curt Schilling talks about what he saw and heard from his courtside seats in game 2. The comments that caught my attention were his observations on Kobe Bryant and his behavior in the game. What I do know is what I got to see up close and hear, was unexpected. From the first tip until about 4 minutes left in the game I saw and heard this guy bitch at his teammates...

NBA: Lakers Defense Non-Existent As Celtics Grab 2-0 Lead

Get Your Read On III

Tonight is the night. Do or die for the Los Angeles Lakers. Do they have it in them to make it a series? Will they keep things competitive between the ultra sensitive Lakers and the overly aggresive free throw shooting Celtics? We're back at Staples Center so let's hope the free throw shooting isn't a factor
