Knicks fans have been fortunate enough to see Carmelo Anthony play a crucial role for Team USA during the Olympics, helping lead his team to a 4-0 record thus far. The star forward has filled it up offensively, holding his own next to scoring juggernaut teammates like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Kobe Bryant. As my pal Tommy Dee notes, however, Anthony has still struggled to garner praise from media and fans alike, largely in part due to his inability to advance past the first round of the NBA playoffs, and a rumored negative attitude.Even so, if this summer's Olympics are any indication, the Brooklyn native clearly still has the ability to rise above as one of the league's best players. The motivation to do so is certainly there, as Anthony continues to see fellow top members of his 2003 NBA draft class win championship rings. But before Anthony begins to make sure an NBA championship doesn't continue to allude him, an Olympic Gold Medal is in his sights. Tonight, one ...

Carmelo Anthony took a cheap shot to the groin during Team USA's 126-97 win over Argentina on Monday in an Olympic preliminary round game.
Argentina's Facundo Campazzo delivered the punch to the groin while Anthony was taking a three-point shot with less than four seconds left in the third quarter. Anthony went down to the ground immediately in obvious pain, but his...
OW! MY BALLS!
A meaningless final group game between the U.S. and Argentina Olympic basketball teams turned into a blame game with each of the rivals accusing the other of taking cheap shots at each other with the most visible low-blow being directed at Carmelo Anthony's crotch. During the final seconds of the third-quarter — and the U.S. holding a comfortable 102-76 lead over their rivals—...
Argentinian player, Facundo Campazzo, gives Carmelo Anthony a cheap shot as he hits the All-Star in the groin after draining a 3-pointer:
During the Argentina-USA game Monday, Argentina player Facundo Campazzo takes a cheap shot and jabs Carmelo Anthony in the nuts just as Melo is coming down from shooting a three-pointer. That brings a whole new meaning to taking one for the team. H/T DriveBaseline
Carmelo Anthony says nobody called him a selfish player until Jeremy Lin came along. The evidence proves otherwise, but as Anthony continually has shown, the facts never get in the way of a story that deflects blame from him. In speaking with reporters last weekend, Anthony once again seemed to assume that the world needed to take him at his word, as though no record exists of what...
While Carmelo Anthony was airborne, delivering another blow in a 3-point barrage, Facundo Campazzo, the diminutive Argentina guard, took the opportunity to deliver one of his own.
It landed just south of the border.
As Anthony crumpled to the floor in front of the United States bench after making his shot, Coach Mike Krzyzewski was the first in a legion who jumped up to protest...
Following a close first half, USA outscored Argentina 42-17 in the 3rd quarter and would defeat their opponent by a margin of 29 points ((126-97):
Shooting just 1-6 from the field, Carmelo Anthony didn’t have the best scoring game, but he was certainly active in today’s game vs. Argentina, their toughest opponent yet. Anthony immediately got off to a cold start, shooting 0-4...
Bleacher Report recently caught up with Tyson Chandler in London to discuss the tough game vs. Lithuania, the ’92 Dream Team debate, and Carmelo Anthony being heavily scrutinized:
On ’92 Dream Team Debate: “The bad thing is, the game will never happen. The only difference in the 2 teams, is most of the players on this team are in their prime whereas the ’92 team they were...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
As Carmelo Anthony crumpled on the floor with his hands cupping his groin, mayhem unfolded on the United States‘ sideline. Tyson Chandler and Deron Williams screamed at Argentina players and threatened...
Team USA, the basketball version. Has been very visible in their support of fellow Olympians. Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden were spotted testing out the starting blocks at track & field. James and KD were joined by Carmelo Anthony at the beach volleyball event to cheer on the duo of Kerri [...]
In case you missed it, for the second game in a row, things got a little physical between the United States and Argentina Monday during the final game of pool play. Carmelo Anthony was attempting a three pointer when Facundo Campazzo gave him a shot to the pills on his follow through. The two teams started jawing at each other, giving Olympic basketball its first moment of...
On a team full of NBA stars there is no question that Russell Westbrook is the most athletic of the bunch. Westbrook’s combination of speed, explosiveness, jumping ability, and strength are hard to match. In Team USA’s win over Argentina yesterday Westbrook put all these skills on display with a monster dunk.
In the 4th quarter Westbrook received a pass from LeBron...
When Linas Kleiza sized up Carmelo Anthony, his former teammate in Denver, fastened his grip on the ball and rose up to sink a 3-pointer, it was not necessary to hear the roar of the pro-Lithuanian crowd to know what was happening.
All you had to do was look at the United States' bench. The cheering, towel-waving and joking around that had been ever present during the Olympics...

Nothing is easy…
This was a close one, but the USA men get the 99-94 win over Lithuania. The U.S. had to fight for this win because Lithuania didn’t back down. The real test came in the fourth quarter where Lithuania led the U.S. 84-82 with 5:50 left. The U.S. went on a 17-10 run to close out the game and hold off Lithuania.
