Danny Ainge was very candid and forthright about the state of the Celtics in his appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Rich on Tuesday morning. When asked about tanking, he made himself clear. “I don’t think our team is in that situation,” Ainge said. Furthermore, the Celtics GM expressed his belief that winning is still essential, even after the slew of moves he has made to turn the team upside down this past offseason. “Young players develop in winning environments, and they develop in winning cultures,” Ainge said. “They develop in meaningful games.” Ainge also stood by injured point guard Rajon Rondo. When asked what players are untradeable for the future he said “for sure Rondo.” “The guy was a starter on the All Star team last year before he got hurt. That means he’s one of the top 10 players in the NBA,” Ainge said. “He’s still young and maturing all the time. He would be, by far, the most difficult piece to trade.” Rondo is currently on the road to recovery

I didn’t think Rondo would be ready by the season opener. And with the Celtics not exactly contenders this season, no reason to rush him back at all. Ainge said he'd be "shocked" if Rondo ready for season opener. Hesitates on timeline and said they will take it week by week and not rush. — […]

Danny Ainge Admits he Tried Trading Rondo for CP3 in 2011

In the media we always say we want unfiltered honesty from our subjects, but I must say I’m always surprised when we get it. The latest example comes from Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge. Danny Ainge says he won't let go of Rajon Rondo, talks trade rumors

The team's only star remaining, Rajon Rondo, is the subject of much debate. That debate really only exists in the town of Boston, where some think that Rondo isn't a building block for the future because of inconsistent play and rumors of immaturity. From a national perspective? Rondo is a no brainer star, and thankfully Ainge feels the same way. In an interview with Toucher...

Your Morning Dump… Where Gerald Wallace is MIA
