Anderson Varejao's season is lost. The Cavs announced Monday that the center developed a blood clot in his lung and was admitted into the Cleveland Clinic last Thursday. "He is being treated with blood thinners (anticoagulants) and is expected to stay at the Clinic for several days, while undergoing treatment and observation," the team's website reported. "He will need to remain on blood thinning medication for approximately three months. While Varejao is expected to fully recover, he will miss the remainder of the current Cavaliers season." It's another blow for Varejao owners who were already expecting him to miss sixt to eight weeks after undergoing knee surgery.  Varejao has been out of action since December 18. The big man was having a monster season, averaging 14.1 points, 14.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.5 steals and .6 blocks per game. Varejao has had an injury plagued last three years, playing just 25 games in the 2011-12 season and 31 games in the 2010-11 season. This solidifies the values of Tyler Zeller and Tristan Thompson. Since taking the starting role 16 games ago, Zeller is averaging 10.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, .6 steals and 1.6 blocks in 34.4 minutes. The negative with him is his field-goal percentage (39.1 percent as a starter and 42 percent on the season). It's hard to believe that Zeller, a starting center, is owned in just 17 percent of Yahoo leagues. Tristan Thompson is the player to own (61 percent of Yahoo leagues). In his sophomore season, Thompson is averaging 10.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, .8 steals and .7 blocks. In his last 10 games, Thompson is averaging 14.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, .8 steals and .3 blocks. The lack of blocks and poor free-throw shooting (61.8) are bummers. But the former Texas Longhorn should be owned in all leagues. Photo via Varejao's Twitter.
