He may look like Jimmy Chitwood but he sure isn’t playing like him. Going into this season I had high hopes for Andris. I thought that maybe his issues with Nelson were the cause of his struggles over the last two seasons. I thought maybe, just maybe, this would be the season he goes to the next level and proves that he is going to be one of the better big men in the league. Unfortunately that has not happened. While there have been flashes of his talent here and there this season has proven to be a dud. Biedrins’s numbers are currently the lowest they have been since his second year in the league. There is no explanation for his diminished skills. He has pretty much been healthy all season and has been averaging 24 minutes a game. He has the time and ability to produce but for some reason he has not.
What really hurts the Warriors is that they are now stuck with his fat contract. Just for this year Biedrins is making nine million and what will really make your stomach turn is knowing he still has four more seasons left on that bloated contract. With such a terrible contract the Warriors chances of being able to trade Andris are slim to none. Most likely to get rid of him the Warriors would intern have to take on a bad contract and what is the point in that. Which is too bad because Andris clearly needs a change of scenery. I don’t think his career is over just yet but if he has to sit on that bench for four more years it might as well be over.
Due to his lack of ability on the court and his albatross of a contract Andris Biedrins gets my vote for Warriors LVP. It pains me to write this. At one time he was becoming one of my favorite players on the team.
