PLAYERS: Avery Bradley
TEAMS: Boston Celtics
One offseason shoulder surgery for Celtics guard Avery Bradley appears to not be enough. It's going to take two to get him in shape for next year. Surgery on Bradley's right shoulder, scheduled for Tuesday, may keep him sidelined into the beginning of next season, Celtics director of player personnel Austin Ainge said Sunday, as reported by ESPN. Bradley has already had surgery on his left shoulder -- the more troublesome one, which he dislocated several times last season -- and had to wait to heal before the right shoulder could get attention, too. Bradley could recover quickly, but Celtics...

Could Avery Bradley be out until midseason?

This came out of left field when I was reading Kelly Dwyer's column this morning, which pretty much rips Danny Ainge for spending $36 million on Jeff Green. And Jeff Green, fully vetted as a wing apparently, will be relied upon due to the potential half-year absence of Avery Bradley, who will be out until midseason while he recovers from significant shoulder woes. Bradley is...

Jeff Green agrees to four-year, $36-million contract, according to report

Lil’ Wayne once said he woke up in the morning, ashed his blunt in his grammy award, looked into the mirror and told the man staring back, “You’s an ill n****.”Well, I woke up this morning, drank a glass of water, read the Boston Herald, looked into the mirror and saw a smidgen of vomit trickling down my chin because JEFF GREEN JUST GOT PAID $36 MILLION OVER FOUR SEASONS...

Rajon Rondo: Olympic-Sized Snub

With baseball at the All Star break, basketball and hockey in our rear view mirrors, and football around the corner, we find ourselves firmly cemented in the middle of professional sports purgatory.   Luckily, for rabid sports fans like myself, the Olympics will soon be coming to the rescue. The one in event I’m particularly looking [...]

Boston Celtics Summer League observations, Day 2: The rise of Jonathan Gibson

Somebody named Jonathan Gibson, who played his college ball at “I need to Google Jonathan Gibson really quickly because I have no idea where” University, scored 15 fourth-quarter points on Tuesday as the Boston Celtics overcame a 17-point deficit to edge the Brooklyn Nets at the Orlando Summer League. Almost as importantly, Adam Morrison still exists, and he now looks like...

Celtics Sneaker Madness continues

We have our first “upset” of this year’s Madness. Former Celtic (have to get used to saying that) Ray Allen’s AJ XIII away p.e.’s were crushed by Rondo’s Huaraches. Now obviously I know much of Rondo’s votes may have come after Ray decided to jet for Miami, but the fans have spoken. Rondo’s Nike Huarache bball 2012 received 63% of your votes to move on to the next...

For Ray, It Wasn’t Business, It Was Personal

I completely understand why Ray Allen chose to sign with the Miami Heat. He gets to go to a team that will contend for a championship every year for the rest of his career, his game is made easier for his aging legs as he’ll likely have many more open, spot-up jumpers with the Heat, and not running through multiple screens to get open. He’s going to Miami, where he can play golf...

Doc Rivers 'Disappointed' Ray Allen Signed With Miami, Says 'He Should Have Stayed'

Of those lamenting Ray Allen leaving Boston for Miami, Celtics coach Doc Rivers will be among the saddest to see the shooting guard go. In the run-up to free agency, Rivers was optimistic that Allen would return but also admitted he wasn't sure what Allen was thinking. When the news finally came that the player Rivers had once said would be "scary" to lose was going...

Report: Celtics Still Interested in Acquiring O.J. Mayo

While Jason Terry will help fill the void left by Ray Allen, the Celtics could still look to add some backcourt depth. O.J. Mayo is one name that's been tossed around throughout the offseason, and the Celtics apparently aren't closing the book on acquiring the free-agent guard. The C's are still interested in acquiring Mayo, according to, but they may have to...

Observations from Boston Celtics’ Summer League, Day 1

Editor’s note: This post is from Jordan Higgs. He is likely to be one of Celtics Town’s initial crop of interns, who are plotting to take over the world one blog post at a time. Due to other obligations I still haven’t watched the entire game. But from what I’ve watched (the second half), well, JARED MOTHER-F%$&ING SULLINGER!!!!! If you also want to apply for an intern...

Celtics Have Heavy Interest in Courtney Lee

The Boston Celtics have become a serious suitor for free-agent guard Courtney Lee. Doc Rivers met with Lee Saturday night. After the departure of sharpshooter Ray Allen, sources say Boston has made it a priority to find a possible replacement. Lee averaged 11.4 points per game for the Houston Rockets last season and hit 40 [...]
