The first time that many basketball fans heard the name Jeff Green, it was probably at Georgetown University, when he won Big East Player of the Year in 2007. He was a special athlete and definitely a player who could become an All Star. He was selected 5th overall by the Boston Celtics and was traded to the Seattle Supersonics as a part of the Ray Allen to Boston trade. Alongside Kevin Durant, it seemed the Sonics had two building blocks to move to OKC with, but with the talent that eventually came to OKC, like James Harden, Serge Ibaka, and Russell Westbrook, Green became expendable in Oklahoma. At the 2010-11 trade deadline, the Celtics and Thunder made another deal, that was controversial for one side (OKC) and totally sensible on the other (BOS). The Celtics traded Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to the Thunder for Nenad Krstic and Jeff Green. The Celtics had Jermaine O’Neal and Shaq down low along with Garnett and felt that Green could give them an athlete capable of stoppi...

Kevin Garnett and Courtney Lee to get MRIs on their ankles

Uh oh. We have been here before, and quite frankly it makes me want to crawl under a rock and hide from the light of day.  This news came out today via the Boston Globe in regards to Kevin Garnett:Coach Doc Rivers was unsure when Garnett sustained the injury. Garnett missed two games because of a strained left adductor muscle and the flu, but returned for two games, combining...

Recap: Celtics - Cavaliers

The Celtics snapped their five game losing skid this evening and they did so in dramatic fashion as Jeff Green converted on a last second lay-up to secure a victory for Boston. Other than Green's big night, the rest of the rotation was either hit or miss. Four guys finished with over 10 points but five of them scored 6 or lower. A win at Cleveland isn't anything to write...

Where’s all the hype for Avery Bradley’s vicious dunk?

Last week I voiced my displeasure with the (over) reaction from fans, media and players to big guys (DeAndre Jordan, LeBron James) dunking over guards (Brandon Knight, Jason Terry). If you are 6-10 inches taller and 50-80 pounds heavier than a man, you should be able to dunk on, over and through him. Avery Bradley threw a hefty counter punch for all the guards when he drove the lane...

Celtics will be without Kevin Garnett for a couple weeks

Boston will be out its emotional leader for a couple weeks, according to ESPN. Kevin Garnett is battling a left ankle injury and will miss time. “I’ll guess two weeks, just because we want to make sure he’s really ready,” Ainge said of Garnett’s recovery timeline. “I think it happened in New Orleans game, it [...] [[ This is a content summary only. New York Knicks thrash KG-less Boston Celtics 100-85

The Boston Celtics dropped their fifth straight game with a loss at home to the New York Knicks. J.R. Smith scored 32 and Carmelo added 29 as the Celtics got thrashed. The Knicks outscored the Celtics 30-20 in the second quarter and that was pretty much it. Another awful loss for the C’s and this one game at home to a Knicks team without Tyson Chandler (or anything remotely resembling...

Knicks 100, Celtics 85 highlights and box score

Highlights from the Celtics loss to the Knicks Tuesday night above. Celtics box score below.

Underrated Stat of the Night - Knicks 3/26

Tonight's game was an absolute waste. I saw no bright spots tonight. The Celtics didn't put much effort and deserved to lose. As bad as they've played lately, the Knicks have played much worse. I have to idea how they managed to lose this one. Tonight's USOTN goes to the fact that the Knicks shot 29 more shots than the Celtics. The C's shot just 61 shots while...

Chris Wilcox to appear on Celtics Late Night Show Thursday night at 7 pm, EST

Boston Celtics forward Chris Wilcox will be making a return appearance to the Celtics Late Night Show this coming Thursday at 7 pm, EST. Wilcox, who is playing his second season as a member of the Boston Celtics, appeared on the show just before the start of the 2012-2013 season and will be checking back in with Nick Gelso and Brandon Paul (B-Paul) on Thursday. Wilcox is currently...

Avery Bradley should take more 3-pointers as pick-and-roll ball-handler

Avery Bradley's shot selection leaves something to be desired. When I play pick-up ball, my teammates usually know me well enough to run an easy play for me. When everybody is worn down and we just need an easy basket, I’ll check the ball at the top of the key, and a teammate will come up and stand in front of my defender. I hand them the ball, they hand it back, I take a step...

Kevin Garnett Expected to Miss 4-5 Games

Although it is unclear the exact amount of time Kevin Garnett will need to recover from an injured left foot, according to Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston, KG is expected to miss 4-5 games. Garnett, who missed Saturday's game at Memphis, underwent an MRI on an injured left foot, and initial results did not alarm the team. While he is listed as doubtful for Tuesday's visit from...

Celtics losing streak now at five, fall to Knicks 100-85

Well that was ugly. The Celtics have now lost five straight, falling 100-85 to the Knicks. You knew you were in for a gem of a game when it took three minutes for either team to score the first bucket. The rest of the game was not much prettier and it could be because there just wasn't enough talent on the court. The list of players who weren't suiting up for this game...

Comments from the Other Side - Grizzlies 3/23

I was very surprised to see how few Grizzlies fans were posting on the boards.  Maybe some of the usual posters were at the game but given the fact that there were also plenty of Celtics fans at the game and how successful the Grizz have been,  you would think there would be more fans posting.  I had to laugh at the reaction to Tony's foul on the 3 at the end.  I recall so...
