this first installment, we will examine the highs and lows of the previous week
and summarize the overall state of Celtics Nation. We will also take a quick
look at news around our favorite league, and maybe throw in a bit of fun stuff
as well.

Preseason blues: The start of
the new season is only more than a week away. The start of the basketball year
means optimism (validated or unvalidated) and a fresh start for all 30 NBA
clubs who all have their own offseason stories. The lineups have been tinkered,
roster trimmings are still being made, and the plays are being field-tested
against NBA competition. Ah, the smell of a brand new season could not be
sweeter.

After starting slow and sluggish, the Celtics used a 24-9 run to close out the first half and never looked back. The Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire-less Knicks jumped out to a 28-15 first quarter lead against the KG and Paul Pierce-less Celtics and actually led by as many as 19. Jeff Green led all Celtics with 25 points (10-16 FG, 3-5 3FG, 2-2 FT) and also had 6 rebounds...

Jeff Green scored 25 points and the Boston Celtics came back from an early 20-point deficit to beat the New York Knicks 109-98 on Saturday night in a preseason game.
Kris Joseph's consecutive three-point plays to open the fourth quarter, part of a 24-4 stretch, gave Boston its first lead since the 7:34 mark of the first quarter.

Sixers fans seem to have a lot of hate for Tommy Heinsohn. I wonder if they realize that Tommy has 10 championship rings and therefore is entitled to say whatever he wants about basketball. We got a look at the future tonight and it was fun. Doc sat KG, Pierce to rest them since they have another game tomorrow night and the young guys got a lot of run in this game.
Doc started Rondo, Lee, Green, Sully and Collins with Melo, Terry, Kurz, Downs, and Joseph playing off the bench. The Knicks also sat their stars with Melo, Amare and Chandler all sitting this one out...
