PLAYERS: Brandon Bass
TEAMS: Boston Celtics
Imagine taking your child to swim class on an ordinary Monday night. There are a few things you’d probably be expecting to happen, but I’m guessing that seeing a 6’8” professional basketball player wearing goggles and participating in the class is not one of them. The members of a Boston area Boys and Girls club were likely in shock when they realized that Boston Celtics forward Brandon Bass would be participating in their swim class. Bass, who grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, never learned how to swim and decided that now was a better time than any. A lot of credit should be given to Bass who took what some people would consider to be an embarrassing tidbit about his life and used it to bring a little recognition to an ignored issue.
