Fans were starting to wonder if Dick Vitale secretly held a part-time job in the Bulls’ front office. Carlos Boozer. Jay Williams. Elton Brand. Luol Deng. And then…JJ Redick? Duke haters let out a huge sigh when the Magic chose to match the Bulls offer to Redick. He’ll be staying on Orlando.
Instead they got a player that they should have been targeting all along: Ronnie Brewer. Brewer is long, fast and a good defender. He’s not going to be raining threes like Kyle Korver, but Brewer is a solid player on both ends of the floor. And he is the big guard the Bulls have needed for years. He’ll be faced with the tough task of guarding the East’s big scoring guards: Vince Carter, Dwyane Wade, Joe Johnson, Ray Allen and more.
The thought of a defensive backcourt of Rose, Korver and Redick made me queasy. With the addition of Brewer, the Bulls have shored up a major deficiency of the past few years. The rotation looks good:

This team might not win it all but it will be a lot of fun to watch. With just 2 Dukies on the roster instead of 3.
