After playing 1.5 games since missing 3 with a sore knee, Carmelo Anthony will leave the Knicks road trip early and return to New York to have his knee drained. Anthony, who left during the third quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the Nuggets, previously said the procedure was his last option. The Knicks will play the next 3 games on the road and do not return home until Wednesday, March 20. There was no timetable given for his return.

Knicks coach Mike Woodson said after the Nuggets game that Anthony will fly back to New York to undergo more tests on the knee. Anthony told reporters he will have the knee drained.
