The Association announced its selection for NBA Rookies Of The Month on Monday and to the surprise of nobody Cleveland Cavaliers rookie point guard Kyrie Irving once again received the honor in the Eastern Conference. Irving has shut out all competition in the East this season; winning the award all three times. Inserted into the Cleveland starting lineup as the point guard at the beginning of the campaign; the number one pick in last June’s NBA Draft is the leading scorer among rookies in the Association as he has averaged 18.9 points per contest. Detroit Pistons rookie point guard Brandon Knight who is second ion scoring among players in their first season; is not even in the same area code as he is averaging 12.6 points per game for the season. Although he played just a handful of games last year; his only season at Duke, he showed enough to make the Cavaliers believe that this young man could be something special in the NBA and he has yet to disappoint. The rookie survived his ...

Cavaliers' Parker uncertain about his future

Anthony Parker is an eight-year veteran who will turn 37 years old in June -- ancient by NBA standards. The Cleveland Cavaliers are undergoing a youth movement and likely will try to find a suitable replacement for him in the draft. A wing scorer is probably their biggest need. Also, Parker's 2.25 million contract expires after this season. All those things will contribute...

Spurs Will Provide Formidable Challenge For Cavaliers

I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is that Kyrie Irving will be back in the starting lineup for the Cleveland Cavaliers (17-33, 12th in the East) tonight. The bad news is the Cavaliers are playing the San Antonio Spurs (36-14, 2nd in the East). It’s funny that the Spurs can continue to fly under everyone’s radar. Hardly anyone seems to be talking about them or taking...

Scouting the Cavaliers: If Irving doesn’t play, Spurs have big advantage

Tonight, two teams headed in opposite directions square off as the San Antonio Spurs (36-14) travel to Cleveland, Ohio to face the Cleveland Cavaliers. Box Score: Spurs 125, Cavaliers 90

Another game, another loss. This one in particularly ugly fashion. The Cavaliers played bad offense and even worse defense. There are no moral victories and no rays of sunshine in this loss. Pretty much everyone in the wine and gold played poorly and the score reflects it. You have to accuse a team of quitting, and let’s face it, this roster is not very good at all, but this team...

Sunday Cavalier Thoughts: Barren Bench A Sore Thumb

Injuries. Trade. Inconsistency. Three words that sum up what’s happened to the Cavaliers bench in the past month. Once a strength of the team in the early season, these three factors have relegated the bench to a shell of its former shelf. It’s no coincidence that the Cavaliers are spiraling downward as a result. Let’s take a trip down memory lane at what the bench was at the...

Cleveland Cavaliers' Anderson Varejao has been sidelined with a broken wrist since February but is hoping to be healed in time for the 2012 Olympic games in London this summer and hunt for gold with the Brazilian national team. NEW YORK (AP) -- JR Smith scored 20 points, Carmelo Anthony had 19, and the New York Knicks shook off more bad injury news before beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 91-75 on Saturday night.
