News came out right before the Boston Celtics/Miami Heat matchup that Rajon Rondo would be sitting out due to a knee injury. This was a bit surprising, since you know that these are the games that Rondo circles on his calender at the beginning of the season. As the engine of the team, it’s tough for the Celtics to flourish with Rondo on the bench. Reportedly, the Celtics are fearing the worst for their All-Star point guard. As in, a torn ACL that would sideline Rondo for the rest of the season. Solid #NBA source tells me the Boston @celtics are fearing a possible torn ACL for Rajon #Rondo. Results from MRI coming soon. Updates ASAP. — David Baumann (@DavidBaumann33) January 27, 2013 Uh. Oh. From C’s beat writer RT @murf56 @celtics source says Rondo may have torn ACL – getting MRI for it now at New England Baptist. — David Aldridge (@daldridgetnt) January 27, 2013 It’s too early to know anything definite, but this is potentially awful news for the Celtics. They can’t compete long-term without him, and really lack a true point guard that can replace him. Courtney Lee and Avery Bradley can fill the role in very short stints, but they lack another ball handling play maker. Rajon Rondo was named an All-Star starter, averaging 14 points, 11 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. We’ll keep you updated with any more news. -Mark Evans, Assistant Manager/Editor of Content Follow us on Twitter The post Celtics Fear Rondo Tore His ACL appeared first on Pass The Pill.
