Found January 11, 2013 on Celtics Life:
Not sure why Russell and Olajuwon got paired up... Paul Pierce led the way with 23 points, and had two key hoops that held off a Houston 4th quarter rally and propelled the Celtics to a 103-91 victory. In Wednesday night's win over Phoenix the Celtics top 3 scorers all came off of the bench (Green 14, Terry 13, and Sullinger 12).  The subs continued that trend through the first half again tonight, with Jared Sullinger's 14 points on 7-8 shooting leading the way, followed by 10 from Courtney Lee and 9 from Jeff Green.  Sullinger also had team highs 18 minutes and 8 rebounds at halftime, while Lee posted a ridiculous +20 before the intermission.  In fact the entire bench posted +/- numbers of at least +10 or better. Boston led 53-45 at the break, then began the second half with an 9-0 run to push the lead up to 17.  The C's led by 12 after 3 quarters, 78-66.  But the Rockets fought back in the 4th, using a 12-0 run ending in a Chandler Parsons dunk to cut the Celtics le...

Your Morning Dump… Where Jared Sullinger is not slow and he’s not fat

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “In one of those (AAU) games, he had like 27 rebounds and it was crazy watching him,” Rivers said. “I was upset at all my son’s bigs because I actually said, ‘How can that fat, slow guy get all those rebounds...

Celtics Making Pierce Available In Trade Talks

Paul Pierce has spent his entire career with the Celtics.

Jeff Green’s two monster dunks one year after surgery

I have said a lot of mean things about Jeff Green over the three years that he has been a member of the Boston Celtics. I have compared him to former Boston Red Sox outfielder J.D Drew in the sense that he was a high-profile acquisition that didn’t pan out in the way that the team thought it would. At times, it has looked as if Jeff Green didn’t really care all that much on the...

Recap: The bench grabs the lead early & the starters fend off Houston late for 5th straight win

The Celtics let a 17 point deficit dwindle down to two but Kevin Garnett & Paul Pierce  refused to let this game slip through their fingers. KG dropped 11 of his 17 in the fourth and Paul Pierce landed a big lay-up plus the foul as the Captain would lead the team with 23 points, as the Celtics win their 5th straight, with a 103-91 victory. The Green: The Bench. After a hot...

Jared Sullinger: “Happy to hack” and the Kevin Garnett effect

Garnett has always been hesitant to impart his deep well of basketball knowledge on his teammates in fears that it will be used against him in the future.  This fits well into the ‘competitive at all costs’ character mold Garnett has so gracefully been placed in.When the Celtics signed Kevin Garnett to a new three-year deal, Danny Ainge and company were attempting to reload...

The NBA should look out as the sleeping Giant has been awoken in Boston, C’s have won 5 in a row

The 2012-13 season did not start the way the Boston Celtics wanted it to as they struggled all year.  They came into 2013 with a record 14-16 to start the season, and were badly in need of a spark to turn things around.  Well it arrived on January 2nd in the form of guard Avery Bradley.  Bradley, who has missed the entire regular season up to this point after surgery on both...

Happy Anniversary Jeff Green!

On the first-year anniversary of his heart surgery, Jeff Green celebrated it by submitting 14 points (on 5-of-9 shooting), 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block in helping lead the C's to an 87-79 win over Phoenix.  CelticsLife celebrates your courageous return as well, Uncle Jeff, with this special wallpaper commemorating one of several dunks you laid on the Suns.  Welcome Back...

Celtics Jeff Green Emotional After One Year Anniversary of Heart Surgery

On January 9, 2012, Jeff Green was laying on a surgical table preparing for surgery to repair a damage aortic root aneurysm. After undergoing urgent heart surgery, Green laid on a hospital bed faced with his biggest adversity ahead of him. While recovering, Green missed the entire 2012 NBA season with his future of returning to the league unknown. Fast forward ahead 365 days however...

Recap: Celtics earn a frustrating win over Phoenix

The Celtics are an incredibly frustrating team to watch at times, and they did nothing to wash themselves of that image despite a eight point victory over the Phoenix Suns tonight. The Celtics held large double digit leads on the Suns on multiple occasions, only to blow both back down to single digits, or giving up the lead entirely. The Celtics held a 12 point lead at halftime...

Four in a row: Boston Celtics beat Phoenix Suns 87-79

The Celtics are over .500 once again. I don’t think any of us expected this to be such an accomplishment before the season began, but here we are. And honestly, after holding the Suns to just 79 points on 39.3% shooting from the field, I think we can agree that it’s really really good to be back.Let’s get to tonight’s bullet points:If we pretend getting the first bullet point...

Taking Stock: Celtics – Suns

After every game, we’ll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player’s overall value. Starters Offense:     Defense:      Overall:  Kind of a blah effort from Rondo for most of the night.  He looked aggressive early, and he had spurts of energy, but overall, not much to speak of.  He had more energy directing the defense from the bench...

RedsArmy presents Fan Friday #37: “Grit & Balls”

Ryan is a 23 year-old Celtics fan from Worcester, Ma. who currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. I first came into contact with him on Twitter about a year ago. We immediately clicked due to our mutual interest in the Boston Celtics. I was impressed with his vast knowledge of the team’s history. He attributes that to his family-specifically his Grandfather: I’ve been a Celtic...

Celtics 87, Suns 79

The ''Big Three'' leading Boston to its latest win was an unlikely bunch. Jeff Green, Jason Terry and rookie Jared Sullinger carried the Celtics through a game of streaks, each outscoring their starting teammates as Boston recovered from a dreadful third quarter and held off the slumping Phoenix Suns 87-79 on Wednesday night. Green had 14 points, Terry scored 13...

Green Envy: What Suns fans said - 1/9

The funny thing about this game is all the praise that the Celtics bench got. They actually outscored the starters for maybe the first time all year. Yet looking at the Suns fans comments, it seems like this has been happening all season. I guess their bench is just horrible. We'll have to see if the Celtics bench can consistently have games like this. Top Three: here comes...

Green Envy: What Rockets fans said - 1/11

Houston fans were pretty confident coming into this game. They were even calling this match a trap game, although the Celtics had won four straight coming in. As the confidence started to die, the true colors started to come out as fans seemed to cannibalize the team, saying James Harden is there only good player and Jeremy Lin can't score. Top Three Greg Smith tells KG his...
