In his weekly appearance on WEEI’s Big Show, Celtics president Danny Ainge spoke openly about the state of his team. He made two things clear following Rajon Rondo‘s season-ending ACL injury: 1) “It’s silly” to think they’ll be better without him and 2) Paul Pierce trades haven’t been discussed. “Nothing with Paul has been discussed,” said Ainge. “I too would like to see Paul Pierce retire as a Celtic. Having said that, if something came up, I would talk to Paul.” via Ben Rohrbach, WEEI

Paul Pierce Wants To Retire A Celtic

The Celtics are struggling, have lost their player Rajon Rondo for the year, and now every name on the roster is involved in trade talks. Celtics star forward isn’t hearing any of that trade the truth talk, and according to Celtics Blog, Pierce “wants to retire a Celtic.” “You know, I want to retire as a Celtic,” said Pierce. “That’s been my longtime goal. But it...

Danny Ainge: "We'll fill those roster spots"

When the Celtics waived Varnado and Joseph, it served two purposes: Create flexibility with the roster and decrease the amount of luxury tax the team was paying. Well, it is not shocking to hear that the Celtics are going to fill those spots with players at some point, especially after the injuries to Rondo and Sullinger. Yet if you had any doubts, here it is confirmed by Ainge himself...

Ainge: "I too would like to see Paul retire as a Celtic...Having said that"

Danny Ainge went on WEEI Thursday afternoon and had all the usual general managerish things to say about possible moves the Celtics could make, meaning he didn’t have much to say. I’m not entirely sure why people ask Danny Ainge, or any other general manager for that matter, questions about trades. Do people expect an honest answer? Do they expect him to say, “Oh yea, we’re...

Greg Oden meets with the Celtics in Waltham

(image courtesy ZFarls) Greg Oden met with Danny Ainge and other Celtics officials today in Waltham: Reached a short time ago, president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said the meeting was mainly an informational process for each side. “We wanted to talk to Greg to see where he is physically,” Ainge said. The 7-footer was the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2007, but he played...

Celtics 97, Magic 84

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett each had a double-double, and the Boston Celtics responded to yet another blow to their lineup with a 97-84 win Friday night over the Orlando Magic, who lost their eighth straight game. Pierce had 14 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists despite sitting out the fourth quarter. Garnett finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Celtics, who learned...

Paul Pierce trade rumor: Would Boston ship the Truth to LA for Eric Bledsoe?

The Boston Celtics aren't likely to trade Paul Pierce. ESPN's Marc Stein calls the chances of the Celtics dealing the Truth "highly remote." But if Boston were to move the former Kansas Jayhawk, there's one destination that makes a lot of sense: Los Angeles. As in, the Clippers. Stein writes that if Boston GM Danny Ainge were to trade Pierce, he's try...

Ainge: Celtics Open To Trade Offers

Danny Ainge addressed the state of the Celtics.

Comments from the Other Side - Magic 2/1

What would a Comments post be without a wheelchair mention and some officiating complaints.   Seems like they are in every thread.  Love that our bench is producing so well these past few games.   I was stuck with the Magic feed last night.  I missed Mike and Tommy but even worse, they kept getting the names of the Celtics wrong.   I've highlighted my favorites.  What...

Underrated Stat of the Night - Kings 1/30

The Celtics have proudly won two in a row. Tonight's game was a kind of competitive first half followed by a boring second half. The Celtics overcame a first quarter deficit with a huge second quarter where they outscored Sacramento 37-14. After that, they didn't even have to try. Now just one more win and they'll be even at 23-23. Tonight's USOTN is a simple one...

Your Morning Dump… Where the Celtics WILL add two bodies (eventually)

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “We have two open roster spots, which we will use when it’s all said and done,” said Ainge. “So three weeks from now, we will have 13 contracts. But we’re not in a rush yet. We have trade possibilities...

Celtics not looking for a point guard in Rajon Rondo's absence

With Rajon Rondo out, it would seem the Boston Celtics would be in panic mode looking to find the best possible replacement available.  However, that may not be the case.  The team may not even be looking for a replacement if we are to believe team president Danny Ainge's comments.According to Greg Payne of ESPN Boston, the Celtics won't look to add a point guard right...

Report: Greg Oden Meets With Celtics to Discuss Potential Signing

Boston is looking more and more like the venue for the Greg Oden comeback tour. Oden met with a group of Celtics executives including president of basketball operations Danny Ainge on Saturday to discuss a potential contract, the Boston Herald reports. The Celtics’ roster is suddenly lacking presence in the paint after it was announced Friday that rookie forward Jared Sullinger...

The hits keep coming as Celtics smother Magic

Late in the second quarter, Jameer Nelson went up for a floater, doing all he could to keep the Magic afloat in a poor offensive first half. The shot hit off the back iron and Paul Pierce went up for it grabbing the rebound. Nelson tried to be sneaky and make a play on the ball. Only Pierce's elbow came down hard on Nelson's forearm. Nelson doubled over in pain as Boston...

Jason Terry and Brandon Bass enjoy playing without Rondo; Danny Ainge says Celtics better without Rondo “is silly”

The Celtics have won two straight since Rondo went down with a season-ending ACL injury, and much has been made about the Celtics recent turnaround without their point guard.  Some have been audacious enough to even hint that the Celtics are better off without number 9 running the show.Count me clearly in the other camp, but Brandon Bass and Jason might disagree with me (via CSN...
