Embarrassed. I don't feel any embarrassment but the Celtics better after this game. That usually happens at the professional level when you take a night off in basketball. The Celtics didn’t seem to care and the score showed with Toronto taking this one easily, 86-74. Blaming each other for the miscommunications was hard to watch. Doc Rivers had to call two time outs in a row late in the first quarter to scream at his team. He preached effort and emotion in the first time out. That pledge fell on deaf ears as the Celtics continued to stand around. Toronto had the advantage early on in the first quarter with the points in the paint, 18-2. The Celtics allowed the Raptors to take 11 more first quarter shots, which makes winning any game, or quarter for that matter hard. Showing some signs of life in the second quarter, the Celtics prevented this game form getting out of hand with better defense, led by Avery Bradley who scored the same amount of points in six minutes as Rondo h...

Why is everyone so pissed off at Rajon Rondo?

Here are some of the comments our readers directed at Rajon Rondo following his lifeless, 5 point (2-10 FG), 7 assist, 5 turnover performance last night vs Toronto: Alex: I'm telling you right now... Rondo is the weakest link. That kid is painful to watch. His lack of effort surprises me and you would think he'd have a chip on his shoulder for not making the All-Star team...

GREAT NEWS!! Rajon Rondo won't be an All Star!!

Twitter / @SpearsNBAYahoo: Celtics guard Rajon Rondo ... via kwout Yes!  Sit back and rest, Rajon.  Take some time off.  Fly to the Bahamas for a couple of days.  Get plenty of sleep.  Maybe some deep tissue massage.   In all honesty, Rondo's injury derailed the All Star train anyway.  He missed too much time to really be a legitimate contender for a spot.  Now...

Doc Rivers: Boston Celtics ‘not mentally tough enough to be winner’

The Boston Celtics traveled to Toronto, following the disappointing overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night. From past experience, Celtics fans would have thought that the Raptors would be the perfect recipe for avenging there heart breaking, OT loss, to the Lakers. Not so fast. The Cs showed up in Toronto looking [...]

Refs missed Rondo calling time out on last play of regulation

So I was watching the last play of the game to see what happened and whether the Celtic could have gotten a better shot.  What I saw, though, was something that the referees missed and it should have given the Celtics a chance at a better look to end the game.  With 2.4 seconds left, Rajon Rondo sees Paul Pierce is in trouble.  He immediately begins signaling for a time out...

Celtics hold off Chicago 95-91

So what if the Celtics were taking on a Bulls team that was missing last season's MVP? Who cares? Last time I checked, they don't dock your victory if you play a team with their superstar forced to watch from the bench. A win is a win is a win. The Celtics got that win two days after one of the most pathetic performances of the current Big Three era. Boston...

Rondo's triple-double lifts Celtics past Bulls

Rajon Rondo collected a triple-double with 32 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds as the Boston Celtics posted a 95-91 victory over the visiting Chicago Bulls on Sunday. Rondo, who shot 11 for 22 from the floor and 10 for 13 from the line, had little trouble working around backup point guards C.J. Watson and John Lucas III. Bulls star Derrick Rose sat for the second straight game...

Rajon To The Rescue, Rondo Racks Up Triple-Double As Celtics Top Bulls 95-91

The Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics entered their contest Sunday afternoon at the “New Garden” with rosters that were depleted by injury. The Bulls were without All-Star point guard Derrick Rose who was suffering from back spasms; while veteran guard Richard Hamilton was on the sidelines with a bruised thigh. Boston would take to the court minus starting center Jermaine...

Rondo's triple-double carries Celtics over Bulls

Rajon Rondo recorded a triple-double with 32 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds to lead the Boston Celtics to a 95-91 win Sunday over the Chicago Bulls, who were without star guard Derrick Rose.

For Doc Rivers, watching son play is more fun

BOSTON (AP) -- Doc Rivers says watching son Austin hit the winning shot for Duke was more fun than coaching. The Boston Celtics coach says he doesn't have to worry about substitutions or calling timeouts; he can just watch and enjoy himself. Austin Rivers dribbled down to the final seconds and hit a 3-pointer to give Duke an 85-84 victory over North Carolina on Wednesday night...

Video: Austin Rivers’ Buzzer-Beater Against North Carolina

When I cared about college basketball, Duke was the team I cared about the most. After watching a Duke-UNC game around 2000, I started rooting for the Blue Devil. The passion and excitement between the two teams sucked my youthful mind in. Plus, it was fun rooting for a team that a majority of people hated. After watching tonight’s game against North Carolina, it reminded me...

Austin Rivers buries North Carolina, Duke wins 85-84

By Chad Lykins — – The 233rd meeting between Duke and North Carolina may have quite possibly gone down as one of the best games between the two rival schools. Duke freshman Austin Rivers buried a buzzer-beating three-point shot that gave Duke their 20th win of the season, 85-84 over North Carolina. Rivers scored a career high 29 points (Duke freshman record vs. UNC) while...
