Celtics’ Doc Rivers and Jason Terry were less than compassionate Friday night when Courtney Lee was carried off the floor by teammates after spraining his ankle.
Boston was in the midst of a comeback against Dallas, down just five with under two minutes remaining in the game when Lee went down with an ankle injury on a possession that left O.J. Mayo wide open for a three-pointer. Mayo knocked it down pushing the Mavericks’ lead to eight and putting the game out of reach for the Celtics.
Following the 104-94 loss in Dallas, Doc Rivers and Jason Terry expressed their discontent that Courtney Lee was unable to get up and defend after injuring his ankle on the play that gave Mayo a wide open three.
“I was hoping he could get up because we needed him to get up…It was the damnedest play. You’re making a run, you’re down five and you got a guy laying on the floor. It felt like it took 40 seconds.”
