Things appeared pretty grim for the Boston Celtics just a few weeks ago.
Rajon Rondo went down with a torn knee ligament, and the team's playoff hopes took a major hit.
Well, the Celtics haven't lost in the seven games since and their latest victory proved they're going to be tough to beat - even without their star point guard. Paul Pierce had 27 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists and the Celtics extended their winning streak to seven games with a 118-114 triple overtime victory over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
''Lots of people still doubt us,'' Jeff Green said. ''Can't come into games thinking we have to impress people.''
But they were plenty impressive in to pull this one off - especially since it ended Denver's winning streak at nine games.
Pierce made a tying 3-pointer in the second overtime to make it 107-107 and extend the game.
''I mean that's what great players do. I would love to tell you I had somethin...
BEST OF MAXIM
Our Boston Celtics have not lost a game since the double OT loss in Atlanta on January 25th. It was the last game Rajon Rondo has played this season, and likely the last NBA game he will play until some point in the 2013-2014 NBA season. Seven straight wins. No Rajon Rondo (or Jared Sullinger). How has this been possible without our best player, and one of the best and most unique...
Let’s be honest. Right now, the Celtics are looking the best they have in a long time. They have won their last six games including an embarrassment of the Los Angeles Lakers. Why is this so significant? Because the Celtics are “Rondo-less”.
Some are suggesting that the Celtics should trade Rondo, that they are fine without him. To these people, I say, “No.”. Don’t get...
Paul Pierce and the Celtics have had a chance to show their toughness with Rondo out
The Boston Celtics won their seventh straight game Sunday, this one a triple overtime epic against the Denver Nuggets. It was another bar fight for a Celtics team that has become accustomed to them over the past two seasons. Even in the wake of that game, the major national story remains the same...
Boy, the Boston Celtics just can’t catch a break this year.
They win six games in a row… only to lose their next six. They lose Rajon Rondo for the rest of the season… only to lose Jared Sullinger two games later. They run off a surprising seven-game win streak, beating the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets… only to have it snapped by the cellar-dwelling...
Losing Rajon Rondo hasn't yet posed a problem for the Boston Celtics.
That may change against the hottest team in the NBA - the Denver Nuggets.
The Celtics attempt to win a seventh game in a row without their All-Star point guard Sunday night and prevent the Nuggets from a 10th straight victory.
Just over two weeks ago, Boston (26-23) appeared to be headed in the wrong direction...
Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo may be out for the season with a torn ACL, but that doesn't mean he's gonna just sit at home.
Rondo has stay involved with the Celtics,
Boston Celtics' guard Leandro Barbosa will be added to the growing list of Celtics' players out for the season. An MRI result confirmed that he suffered a torn ACL from a play in the third quarter of the loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. Rajon Rondo tore his ACL not even a month ago and the Celtics list of guards continues to diminish.A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com reported...

Rajon Rondo, Jared Sullinger, and now Leandro Barbosa will miss the rest of the 2012-13 season after losing his footing on a stopping motion towards the basket during Monday’s loss 94-91.
Kevin Garnett reported to CSNNE’s A. Sherrod Blakely that they received news that Barbosa will not play again in this season.

The injuries are getting ridiculous...
We basically already knew this after it happened, but now it's been confirmed somewhat.

It's the second ACL tear in just over two weeks as the Celtics lost Rajon Rondo to the same injury (except maybe his...
After the ACL tear of point guard Rajon Rondo, many stuck a fork into the Boston Celtics season. With aging stars up and down the roster, many assumed the Celtics should start trying to trade some assets for young pieces and the future. Forward Kevin Garnett has found himself in the midst of numerous [...]
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Welp, I really didn’t want to start this day off with doom and gloom for C’s fans, but obviously, the Barbosa injury is the big story, and only real “news”. He’ll undergo an MRI this morning in Boston...
After cooling off the NBA's hottest team in their last game, the Boston Celtics will try to extend their winning streak against the team with the league's worst record.
The Celtics look to win their eighth game in a row since All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo went down on Monday night when they visit the Charlotte Bobcats, losers of seven straight.

The worst-case scenario for Leandro Barbosa‘s knee appears to have been confirmed. The Celtics guard, who came up lame during Monday’s loss in Charlotte, reportedly has torn the ACL in his left knee. Such an injury would end his season.
Kevin Garnett told reporters in the locker room after the game that the team was informed Barbosa would join Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger...
