PLAYERS: Paul Pierce
TEAMS: Boston Celtics
Boston Celtics team captain Paul Pierce told reporters -- including Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston -- yesterday that he hopes to play at least one more season before examining his future beyond that point. Pierce would like to end his career as a Celtic, but it remains to be determined if Boston will bring him back."Well, I always said I want to end my career as a Celtic," Pierce said. "But they're the ones -- I have a contract for next year, but it's not guaranteed. So the decision is in their hands. Whatever decisions they make, maybe if they trade me somewhere or I end up somewhere else, maybe it can be a situation where I come back for a one-day deal and retire a Celtic."Despite getting another year older, Pierce's production hasn't dropped off. The veteran averaged 18.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game this season, not far from his career totals. He's set to make $15.3 million next season in the final year of the four-year, $61.3 million contract he signed in 2010. Only $5 million is guaranteed, meaning that the Celtics could elect to use the amnesty clause on Pierce rather than bring him back. While we've seen stars part ways with their long-time franchises in the past, it sounds as if Pierce will end his career with the Celtics one way or another. He and the rest of the team look to keep their current season alive as they'll continue to attempt to stave off elimination against the New York Knicks.Follow @hoopsinjurynews

Hopefully, you enjoyed these Boston Celtics

The morning after a devastating loss, definitely hurts. I just want to say I enjoyed these Boston Celtics. Who knows who will be back next year, this team could be 100 percent different. Thank you Rondo, Terry, Lee, Crawford, heck even Millic. Its...

Danny Ainge on the "very hard" decision of what to do with Pierce

Paul Pierce is a Celtic legend and will one day have his number hanging from the rafters. But, will he ever wear a different uniform? We've seen that Danny Ainge has been very hesitant to move Pierce in the past. We've heard rumors of deals that could've sent him to the Nets, or Mavs. We heard that the Celtics could've gotten Josh Smith for Pierce this trade deadline...

Your Morning Dump… Where there are no answers yet on the future of KG and Truth

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “I haven’t really thought about it, to be honest with you. I’m kind of digesting , obviously, the current, and Doc came to me, pulled Paul and I to the side and all three of us agreed to speak later — too...

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett not done yet

The Boston Celtics cowboyed-up last night at Madison Square Garden and sent the first-round series against the New York Knicks back to Boston for Game Six.  Despite a few vestigial stretches of cringe-inducing offense and loss of focus on defense, there was a lot to like about last night’s 92-86 win. The Celtic offense defied Kenyon Martin’s ill-advised eulogy and returned from...

5 Things Celtics must do to win tonight - Game 6

Tonight, the Celtics will look to even up their series with the Knicks when they play what could be their final game at the TD Garden this season. The Celtics have been in complete control in these last two games, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Right now, the Celtics are the better team. They have more experience and more momentum.
