New York Knicks
After the sloppy play featured in the second half of the series opener, Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics will look to redeem themselves in Game 2 this evening at MSG. Turnovers plagued the Celtics late in Game 1 but the atrocious efforts put forth by the bench are what ultimately did them in. While Carmelo Anthony led the way with 36 points, it was the New York Knicks bench that embarrassed Boston, outscoring Cs reserves 33-4. If there's anything we learned from the first contest it's that Doc Rivers is going to need a heck of a lot more from the guys sitting to his left. Of the eight potential subs, Rivers only played three. Courtney Lee, Jordan Crawford, and Jason Terry had 49 minutes of floor time between them and combined for 4 points on 0% shooting from the field - Lee went 4/4 from the free throw line - 6 rebounds, and 0 assists. This production, or lack there of, is from what was supposed to be one of the deepest benches in the Association entering the 2...

The Celtics managed only 8 points in the 4th quarter last night, and just 25 total in the second half.
For the game Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce combined to shoot 10-27 from the field, 37%.
The bench scored just 4 points without making a field goal (0-7), including 0-4 3PT from Jason Terry.
Boston's reserves also failed to register a single assist.
The Celtics turned the ball...
Here's Doc Rivers media interview from Monday's practice courtesy of the Boston Celtics. The Celtics aim to even up the series vs the Knicks tomorrow night.
Unlike a lot of people, after last night's loss, I'm not ready to bury the Celtics just yet. They are down 0-2 but they are going home, where they play much better. If they can win their home games, it's tied 2-2 and then they just need to steal one game out of the 2 left in NY. I agree with Doc that the fouls on KG were horrendous and even the Knicks fans recognized...
The Celtics were looking to bounce back from a disappointing game one performance where Boston was only able to finagle eight fourth quarter points. The Celtics were up by six entering the halftime locker-room, and then it happened again. The ball stopped moving and the Knicks buckled down on defense. The rest was a blur: the Knicks make a lot of shots, some tough and some...
Doc Rivers says Kevin Garnett suffered a hip pointer in Game 2 against the Knicks. See the video evidence above.
The injury will not prevent KG from practicing or playing in Game 3. Shocking.
As for why Jordan Crawford is playing significant minutes over Courtney Lee, Doc said:
“I think offensively he gives you a better shot at it.”
On the team’s effort:
At the end of the day...
NEW YORK — One New York hotel, two unhappy basketball teams.
The Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls are staying at the same location this weekend. Both lost their playoff openers Saturday, the Celtics falling 85-78 to the New York Knicks and the Bulls getting routed 106-89 by the Nets in Brooklyn.
“This was a quiet, dark hotel last night. The New York-area teams didn’t treat...
After collapsing in game 1, the Celtics will continue their first round series with the Knicks tonight at MSG. They need to win this one. A loss tonight would be a huge punch in the stomach. They need to focus for 48 minutes, not just 36. Here are tonight's five things:
5. MORE SHOTS FOR BASS:
In Game 1, Brandon Bass scored just four points on two-of-two shooting. If they are...
Kevin Garnett walked over to the Boston bench, nursing a sore hip and Celtics coach Doc Rivers asked repeatedly if his big man needed a break.
It was going to take more than that to knock Garnett out of the playoffs.
''He's good. He's good to go,'' Rivers said Wednesday during a conference call with reporters. ''He'll practice tomorrow, and he...
Boston and New York have a long and storied rivalry, and this year, the two cities will be adding to it on the hardwood.
As the Celtics and Knicks square off in a first-round playoff series, emotions will be sure to rise as the tension does. Paul Pierce and Carmelo Anthony will be doing their best to add another winning chapter to their team’s story of Boston vs. New York. However...
What a weird coincidence, two losing teams sharing a hotel.
Boston.com reported that the Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics shared the same hotel last weekend after they both got beat in their game 1's of their series.
‘‘This was a quiet, dark hotel last night. The New York-area teams didn’t treat the guests very well,’’ Celtics coach Doc Rivers said Sunday.
Hustle. Heart. Focus.
This is what the Celtics need from each and every player for the rest of this series. They're down 2-0 and there is no more room for errors. Absolutely none.
I really thought that the Celtics would be able to "flip the switch" now that it's the playoffs, but it looks like the bad habits they developed over the course of the season have...
Nathaniel S. Butler/NBAE/Getty Images Celtics’ lack of talent catching up with them Just last season, the Oklahoma City Thunder went down 0-2 before rallying to beat the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. That is unusual. So unusual in fact, that only 14 other teams in the history of the league have accomplished the feat. In the NBA, teams that lose the first...

The Boston Celtics have had a string of games where consistency is productive, but then there is that inconsistency, like the recent second half complications.
Doc Rivers’ team has always been accustomed to playing and preaching all four quarters, but in this series against the New York Knicks, they have struggled to compete the...
