I woke up on this very cold, windy morning, to a Bleacher Report alert saying that the Chicago Bulls had agreed to trade Luol Deng, but the rest of the text was cut off, so I didn't know where he was headed!  Needless to say, I jumped out of bed, opened up the alert and saw that they had traded Deng to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Andrew Bynum and draft picks.  It also showed some tweets saying that the Bulls had offered Luol Deng a 3 year $30mil contract extension, which he rightfully declined.  I like this trade for the Cavs as long as there is some agreement that he will sign long term.  They have had a gapping hole at the SF position, ever since LeBron James took his talents to South Beach.  Cavs SFs have avg just 14.5 points shooting under 40% and grabbing 6 .6 rebounds per game.  Deng is putting up 19 points on 45% shooting and pulling down 6.9 boards.  Luol is a HUGE upgrade over Alonzo Gee, C.J. Miles and Earl Clark.  This should produce a nice boost in Kyrie Irving's performance as well, now that he has a veteran leader on this team.  Deng played next to Derrick Rose quite well so this should be an easy transistion.  Cleveland may be just 11-23, but they are far from eliminated in the Eastern Conference.  Great pick up.As for the Chicago Bulls, this is the start of something big.  There is a good chance Derrick Rose will never be the same player again and any non Chicago Bulls fan, or any logical Bulls fan, knows it is time to start over.  Andrew Bynum is not part of the future, just a way to get that 1st rounder from the Cavaliers.Next on the list for the Bulls, amnesty Carlos Boozer.Click here for an explination of the draft picks.
