That’s right, the 2-time champion Gasol has agreed to join the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls fell short in the Carmelo Anthony sweepstakes, but still made a big splash by signing the 7-foot Spaniard. Pau Gasol received a lot of interest from multiple contending teams such as the Spurs, Thunder, Rockets, but at the end of the day Gasol has decided to take his talents to the windy city. Besides LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Gasol was the highest coveted free agent this summer. As we learned from San Antonio this past season, youth doesn’t win championships, experience does. The addition of Pau Gasol to the Chicago Bulls just may be enough to boost them to the top of the now wide-open Eastern Conference. Gasol will now be paired with Joakim Noah making them hands down the best passing front court in basketball. This gives Chicago two 7-footers in their starting lineup. The addition of Gasol provides the Bulls flexibility to be even more aggressive on the defensive end now that they have an additional rim protector. Pau Gasol just a few years ago was considered to be the top center in the NBA after winning 2 titles with the LA Lakers. Now that Gasol will be joining the Bulls, this all but seals the fate of Carlos Boozer. His 17-million dollar contract needs to be shredded. Look for him to be involved in a sign-and-trade or be waived via the amnesty provision by Wednesday. The Bulls are also trying very hard to bring over their 2011 first round pick Nikola Mirotic from Europe as he opted out of his deal with Real Madrid. The projected front court of Joakin Noah, Pau Gasol, Nikola Mirotic, and also Taj Gibson, possibly gives the Bulls the most versatile front court in the NBA. The Bulls now seem to have an ideal blend of playoff experience, young talent, and a great coaching staff. There are still a few roster moves that need to be made such as the backup point guard position. While assuming Derrick Rose will be coming back to his old form, the Bulls substantially appear more like title contenders than they did entering last season.     The post Chicago Bulls: Enter Pau Gasol appeared first on isportsweb.
