With a winless record of 0-4, the Knicks didn’t have the summer league success they may of hoped for, but at least we can take a couple of things away from the past week of games. For one, James White is an athlete. And while fans are understandably in the hunt for a shooting guard, White definitely has the potential to be a low cost, high reward player.
Aside from James White, who the Knicks signed to the veteran’s minimum, Chris Copeland has also been signed to a non-guaranteed deal and will join the team at training camp. The 6’8 forward has been a definite stand out in the summer league, averaging 14.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 1.0 BLKPG- but most importantly, showing his versatility. He can dunk, knock down the outside jumper, and break ankles- what else could you ask from a power forward?
The New Jersey native played 4 years at the University of Colorado Boulder before going undrafted. After spending some time in the D-League, his last stint being in 2006-07, Copeland decided to make the move to Europe and play overseas. He’s spent the last 2 years playing with the Okapi Alastar in Belgium where he’s attracted some scouts, including the Knicks, with his average’s of 18.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Depending on how training camp pans out, the 28-year old could serve as a solid backup for our newly acquired older bigs- the 38-year old Marcus Camby, and 39-year old Kurt Thomas.
Jason Kidd has apologized on Twitter for his arrest on a drunken-driving charge after an accident last week.
Days after signing with the Knicks, Kidd crashed his SUV into a telephone pole in the Hamptons on Sunday, Southampton Town police said. He was treated at a hospital for minor injuries after the 2010 Cadillac Escalade he was driving hit a pole and veered into the woods around...
The Jason Kidd era in New York is not getting off to a great start. When the details and pictures came out about Jason Kidd’s accident he is very luckily to even be alive.
Kidd wrecked his vehicle into a pole last Sunday morning in the Hamptons and was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI). The point guard sustained minor injuries.
Kidd is facing a misdemeanor...
The US Men's basketball team is off to London (and they don't have to worry about any economy-class tickets neither) on their charter flight. Some of the superstars on-board, like Carmelo Anthony, took the opportunity to catch a few z's, but just because one is asleep doesn't mean it isn't important to still look good. Carmelo does just that with the rare (but...
Ah yes, the Twitter apology
Just gimme a f-in break already. Twitter’s cool for a lot of reasons. I won’t go into them. One thing that sucks about it is that it gives today’s athletes another easy and lame way out of any sort of accountability. Back in the day, if you f-ed up — and needed/wanted to show some remorse for actions that reflected poorly or your organization —...
The New York Knicks were one of twenty-four teams to participated in this year’s summer league in Las Vegas. They played a total of 4 games, and were represented well as some current Knicks, Mike Woodson, and even James Dolan himself were in attendance. Check out some photos from their time in Vegas:
Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, and Team USA took on the Olympic hosts, Great Britain, this afternoon in Manchester, England. Here are some photos from the 118-78 defeat:
