Cleveland Cavaliers’ Rising Star Might Not Be Close To Returning
Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

As compared to recent years, the Cleveland Cavaliers are projected to finish the regular season strong. The thing is, their lineup just got weaker as rising star Evan Mobley might not return to action just yet.

Just recently, Mobley sprained his ankle during a match against the Boston Celtics . Fortunately, the Cavs came out on top during that game, thanks to a timely game-winner from Max Strus.

After the test results came out, it was confirmed that the big man will miss at least one week due to the injury. As a result, Mobley joins Donovan Mitchell, Ty Jerome, Dean Wade, and Strus on the injured list of Cavs players.

Before he went down with a sprained ankle, Mobley was averaging 15.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game. He was also shooting 57 percent from the field, making him one of the efficient options on offense for the Cavs.

Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell Might Return First Before Evan Mobley

Almost a week has now passed since Mobley was injured and there’s no definite timetable yet on his return. But according to a tweet by Chris Fedor on X, Cavs fans may have to wait a little longer.

“Evan Mobley is out of his walking boot. Team will leave for their three-game road trip tomorrow. But a source said the belief is Mobley’s return is further away than Donovan Mitchell,” Fedor said.

While getting the walking boot out is a solid move toward his return, having Mitchell return first than Mobley only means his recovery isn’t going well as expected. Even if the worst case scenario happens, though, an injury of that kind won’t sideline the rising star when the playoffs start.

As for the Cavaliers, it looks like they’ll be counting on Jarrett Allen more to man the post for them. In any case, Cleveland fans are eagerly waiting to have the big man back to boost their playoff performance in the coming weeks.
