Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
For sure these aren't as much fun when we lose, but regardless they give a good look into the psyche of the other side. I've highlighted my favorites in bold. What are yours? We get another shot at these guys tonight, this time at home. Hopefully we finally get a win against them.
It doesn't get any better than the Celtics versus the Sixers... Talk about a rich and hated history... I can't tell you how many times at the end of the day that the Celtics rained on my parade... They seemed to always be the team who would atke us out of the picture... Who knows how many more championships the Sixers own if not for these guys.
If you are the Sixers you want to use your speed to get up and down the court on a older Celtics roster. Luckily for us tonight, the Celtics don't own a low post game so we shouldn't have a huge issue in the paint.
We always step it up a notch when we play Boston. I expect a good game.
I think we're going to need Lavoy to play like a big man tonight or we get blown out.
FWIW, Bill Simmons just picked us to win tonight, citing how tough we always play Boston and that he's worried about that. He's a huge Celtics fans too. Not that it means anything, but it's good to have some respect from Celtics fans. They definitely don't forget what happened last year.
The Sixers got the best of them in the first meeting of the season on their home floor so Boston should be out for blood.
Turner is going to torch Peirce.
I will be seated behind the Celtics bench. I hope KG and his lapdog Rondo are close enough for me to spread some friendly Philadelphia holiday spirit haha
Stop praising KG for being slimey.
HA that J-Rich shot had no chance of going in and KG goaltended it.
Hahahahahha how did that Jrue pass get all the way to J-Rich? That was hilarious.
The Boston players did not move fast enough on their hover-rounds to grab it.
That's ok, just let Bass plant his head into Turners chest like a RB.
I really hate Boston – everything has to be some dumb scowl, fake tough guy face.
That is what KG brings
I wonder how little respect the sixers will get on national TV again
I'm expecting quite a few non calls tonight. It's a shame that we get such little respect.
Jeez, Rondo's going to have a tri-dub by halftime. When's the last time anybody pulled that off?
Man Rondo with 10 points 8 reb 5 ast in the 1st Qtr.WOW!!
.the problem is that the sixers are weak inside....just plain soft..
Whenever pierce scores, somewhere in the back of my mind I hear... Iguodala.
I normally am not the kind of person to advocate dirty play. But just once I would like someone (preferably a Sixer) to hack Garnett hard and make him live up to his tough guy act.
I hate PP
Why is ET talking crap to Pierce? No need to give Pierce any motivation.
Really wish Dorell was shooting better.
Really wish Dorell was in a different uniform.
Why hasn’t Dorell been sent to the D-league? It takes a special player to come into the game shooting 33% and somehow reduce it.
On the "NBA Top 20 Softest players ever" list, Jon Barry ranks between #8-10. He doesn’t need to be labeling anyone as “fragile.”
I can’t stand Jon Barry.
Of all the living people in the world , I hate him the most right now.
ET getting them superstar calls now.
Evan has subscribed to the Paul Pierce method of screaming like a little b!tch on contact to grab the ref's attention.
What does it take to draw a foul against Kevin Garnett?
Garnett doesn’t screen he just walks with you chest to chest
Good God. Don’t blow the whistle because PP throws his arms up!
Imagine if we had Bynum guys :(….oops Giving myself 40 lashes….just envisioning it in my head, he who shall not be named from now on
I love seeing the sixers on the good end of some questionable calls lol
Cry Doc cry...... God I can't stand that guy!!!!
I get sick of him always lobbying for a call later on during the game.
I watched the ECF last year and he must have done it at least 10 times..
Man I think Pierce's FT attempts are written into the collective bargaining agreement.
The amount of crap the Celtics get away with is unreal. They push, grab, shove, or set an illegal screen almost every time. Peirce just throws his hands up and yells and gets a foul call, its such a joke. Still think we take this game tho
Celtics work the refs as much as any team in the NBA. I would not want to be an official with them on the floor. They are on them every possession.
**** KG and that moving screen
Something tells me Evan doesn’t like the Celtics.
Can we make a request to David Stern to play the Celtics for 82 games? This way ET will surely be the regular season MVP.
They some how need to avoid that switch on Pierce, that kills them
Hard to do when you can get away with moving screens all **** day.
I think I would like to see Turner punch Rondo
I just want to know how many prostitutes they bought that ref who keeps giving the Celtics calls and ignoring their fouls.
This is a non-terrible game. I’m ecstatic.
Jon Barry hates the Sixers with a passion. Much like most of ESPN
Wow, 4 fouls on Rondo
I like that Jason Terry is playing like a**
Big crowd…although there are more than a few Celtics fans here…
Just show Doc the replay before he has a heart attack out there
Shut up Doc.
The Celtics complaining about calls. Now we’ve seen everything.
Yay keep missing JET.
How on earth did Jeff Green get that 4 yr 36+million dollar deal?
He sucked before the surgery too.
Ah, true but I just didn’t think he was that special before that either, more like a solid 6-7th man
How was that reach in by Garnett not a foul?
It was Garnett. Against the Sixers. That’s how
“Paul Pierce just LOVES the game. UNLIKE ANDREW BYNUM.”
But how much does Pierce love bowling???
Is anyone going to stop Paul Pierce?
Somebody tell Lavoy that Pierce is almost 40
Kevin Garnett somehow only has 1 personal foul.
Pierce is 36 and is still as quick as he was when he was 26. Why would you have Allen on him!! SMH!
Why didn't we draft him again lol....
God, I hate Paul Pierce. That guy kills the Sixers every freaking time.
Every time there is a broken play/fast break and rondo has the ball, its a guaranteed layup
Jon Barry is unbearable
Good god. I want to shove that championship pedigree down his throat.
I hope it has diamonds on it so it hurts going down
God I hate Garnett
I got this bad feeling a Pierce 3 is coming.
So, uh, Ray Allen. We’re sure he’s not on the bench, right?
Ray Allen is on Miami. Ray Allen is on Miami. Ray Allen is on Miami. Ray Allen is on Miami.
Man I wasn't even worried when Rondo had the ball, I just knew he wasn't gonna nail a game winner even with his good shooting tonight
Rajon Rondo is ugly.
Rondo flopping all over the place
5 more minutes of Jon Barry hate, This is what we fans live for
OVERTIME? That might take out all the wind out of the Celtics tomorrow lol...
Pierce is gonna be donezo tomorrow.
It's pretty **** up that ESPN is rooting for the Celtics all game lol.
Jeff Green shooting 3 for 5 from 3-point land because of course he is.
I can't believe we are winning these types of games. Did we just take out rondo? No pg is safe vs us.
Rondo airball to end it feels right.
Lol @ Rondo taking the last shot twice and not peirce....impressive doc rivers
Sixer WIN ON E.T SHOT AND RONDO HURT AT THE BUZZER. Could you ask for more?

As CLNSRadio’s resident Sneakerhead (even though I despise that term), I couldn’t help but notice Rajon Rondo’s choice of footwear so far this season. Rajon Rondo is under contract to wear the products of Nike Basketball, and at times their subsidiary Jordan Brand. Last year he regularly wore the Nike Zoom Hyperenforcer and the Nike [...]
Here are the full highlights of Rajon Rondo's 16 point, 13 rebound, 14 assist triple double from Friday night in Philly. Rondo also chipped in 3 blocks and 3 steals for good measure.

According to Lakers beat reporter Dave McMenamin, the Los Angeles Lakers were watching the Celtics-76ers game in the locker room before their game against the Thunder tonight and were impressed by Rajon Rondo's near triple-double in the first half (he went on to secure the triple-double in the 3rd quarter). Dwight Howard chimed in that "the game just comes easy to him:"...
8 a.m. ET: The Celtics are lucky to be playing at home Saturday, because they made need an extra pick-me-up from the home crowd. The Celtics will be playing their third game in four nights and their second straight game against the Sixers, a scrappy squad that has renewed its rivalry with Boston in the last two seasons.
Although such a tight stretch of games normally would put Celtics...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
“I should have taken the lay-up,” Rondo said. “But I tried to make a plant and just slipped.”
Said Garnett: “I thought he had the lay-up. It was just unfortunate. I was indecisive. I should have been more...
The Boston Celtics continue to struggle in the middle of the Eastern Conference.
A recent series of missteps by temperamental point guard Rajon Rondo has done nothing to elevate their cause.
In their 95-94 overtime loss to Philadelphia on Friday, Rondo flubbed what should have been a game-winning scenario.

PHILADELPHIA -- Rajon Rondo picked up another triple-double, but the Philadelphia 76ers picked up the win. Evan Turner, despite missing nine of his previous 10 shots, swished a 13-foot jumper with 3.9 seconds left in overtime to lift the Sixers past the Boston Celtics, 95-94, Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center. "I was just trying to get to my sweet spot on the court...
Celtics were up four at the half but after a lousy 3rd quarter, fell behind by as much as eight points. Rajon Rondo showed why he's clearly the Celtics' best player. His all-around game becomes contagious and he nearly had a triple-double early in the second half (he'd achieve it later in the 3rd quarter). But the Celtics comeback, which momentarily gave them...
Paul Pierce and the Celtics were losers on Friday night
Rajon Rondo had a triple-double by the time the third quarter was over, but you would not have been able to tell from his post-game comments.
“I should have took the layup,” said Rondo after he missed a game-winning opportunity slipping while taking a jump-shot. “I tried to make a plant and just slipped.”
As an aside...
Russ Smith spoke to the media following his career high 31 point performance against UMKC. Russ said watching Rajon Rondo the day before helped motivate him to try and do more than just score points. Smith also had 7 rebounds, 5 rebounds and 5 steals.

Rajon Rondo and Jrue Holiday lead the Eastern Conference in assists and had no trouble racking them up the last time they met.
The point guards will match up twice this weekend when Rondo's Boston Celtics and Holiday's 76ers begin a home-and-home set at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night.

We often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics. Here’s a look at some enemy chatter from Minnesota.
“They were making a lot of shots,” Wolves coach Rick Adelman said. “I can’t tell you [what went wrong] until I look at it, but I thought we were playing well. But in the second half they took control.”
Blame one man:...
It's been eight days, and three games, since Doc Rivers called his team soft following their rather embarrassing loss at home against the Nets. Since then the team is 2-1, beating the Blazers by 18, losing in Milwaukee by 3 (both of these games without Rajon Rondo) and then beating the Timberwolves by 10 last night. More than just the results though, the team has played differently...
Kevin Garnett doesn’t always need to grab rebounds for the Celtics to win. They beat the Sixers 92-79 even though their center didn’t snatch a single rebound. It was the first time since 1997 that happened. Paul Pierce contributed with nine assists and Jeff Green had 16 points off the bench.
