PORTLAND, Ore. -- The game appeared headed for overtime when Washington's Jordan Crawford, standing 30 feet from the basket as the game clock ticked to zero, launched a fadeaway jumper over the outstretched arm of Portland's Wesley Matthews. The ball swished cleanly through the twine, touching off a mass on-court celebration by the Wizards after their 98-95 victory over the Trail Blazers on Monday night at the Rose Garden. "That's what you live for -- somebody to come in and make a big shot like that," teammate John Wall said of Crawford's game-ending howitzer. "I just wanted to get a clean look, make a good play," said Crawford, who scored all of his 13 points in the fourth quarter. "I knew the shot had a (chance) to go in. I just thank the Lord I made it." Nene and Martell Webster each scored 24 points for the Wizards (9-30), who won for the fifth time in the past seven games. Damian Lillard scored 12 of his 18 points in the ...
BEST OF MAXIM
To the surprise of many, the Portland Trail Blazers are very much in the hunt for the Western Conference Playoffs despite finishing ten games under .500 last season. Although Portland still cannot compete with the likes of Oklahoma City and San Antonio, they are only a few pieces away from being a championship contender. In The Big Book of Basketball by Bill Simmons, the Sports Guy...
PORTLAND - Jordan Crawford's fadeaway 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Washington Wizards a 98-95 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers Monday night at the Rose Garden. It was the fifth win in seven games for the Wizards (9-30), who hold victories over Oklahoma City, Atlanta and Denver during that string. Nene and Martell Webster each scored 24 points for Washington. ...
Close but no cigar, a commonly used phrase for coming up short accurately describes the outcome of the Portland Trail Blazers in the last 10 games. Over the course of those 10 games, the outcome has been decided by 6 points or less and the last 6 games have not gone in the Blazers favor. For Blazer fans this stretch of games has been unnerving and deflating. At the halfway point...

What in the world is going on?
The Portland Trail Blazers have fallen into a complete rut. They’ve lost a season-high six straight games and they’ve spent way to much energy in comebacks if they hope to make a push late in the year.

Although Damian Lillard didn’t play at a high level division 1 school in college he is showing everyone that he still has game. Lillard is right in the middle of being the Rookie of the Year. He has started for Portland since day one. In a recent game against the Wizards Lillard had a monster dunk.
Lillard beat his man off the dribble and then put Nene on a poster dunking on him...
Jordan Crawford’s fade-away three pointer as time expired, gave the Washington Wizards the 98-95 victory over the Portland Trailblazers. The Wizards earned their 9th victory of the season and have now won four of their last six games (thanks to John Wall’s return from injury).
The Washington Wizard won only their 9th game of the season last night, but it was in style. Jordan Crawford hit a game winning buzzer beater three pointer for the win against the Portland Trail Blazers. Not the two most interesting teams in the NBA, but hey, it's a buzzer beater none the less.

Monday night, the Wizards pieced together a solid team effort, getting season highs in scoring from both Martell Webster and Nene, while Emeka Okafor poured in a double double of 13 points and 13 boards, and Jordan Crawford scored 13 fourth quarter points. Despite all of that, the Wizards allowed the Trail Blazers to score five straight points, and tie the game with less than 10...

Two Steps Back
Holding yourself among the playoff contenders in the NBA is done by sustaining hot streaks and not falling into periods where your team does not play well. All too often do we see teams get hot at one moment and jump into playoff contention only to hit a cold streak and fall off the face of the earth.
The Portland Trail Blazers (20-21) are currently doing the latter...
Yesterday we saw the winning side of a dramatic buzzer beater with this great Butler radio call of their last second victory over Gonzaga. But what about the losing side? Nothing brings AA more perverse delight than hearing a dejected buzzer beater call when an announcer's soul is crushed. Check out this call from Blazers announcer Mike Barrett last night as the Wizards...
