The Dallas Mavericks have been eliminated from the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. With Dirk Nowitzki out for almost half the season, they had a very slim chance to begin with, but the fact that they were so close has to mean something and should be considered a victory for Dallas. They were well coached all season and played hard, but playing without Dirk and having an aging and rather untalented roster was their reason for failure. Yes it is the end of an incredible run, but this could be the beginning of something new. After striking out on all major free agents last year, owner Mark Cuban filled the roster with one year deals, to try again at free agency the following off-season, so he will have a lot of money burning a hole in his pocket this summer. Hopefully he makes the right decisions this summer, because if he spends wisely, they could have a whole new roster full of talented players.
