A fear of statues? Some people are scared of heights. Some fear the end of the world. I’m personally frightened by mascots and people in costumes like you’d see at a zoo or amusement park—come on, you have no idea who is under that thing! But Damian Lillard has his own twist on the random phobia genre with his fear of historical statues. Portland’s rookie sensation first took to twitter to discuss his fears. With the Blazers paying visit to the Washington Wizards, it must have been a trying day for Lillard. Lillard later discussed his fear with USA Today, saying it originated from a visit to a wax museum and that: “It’s the idea that they’re from so far back, and so big in our history. Just to see something that looks so close to them, it’s weird. It freaks me out.” It almost sounds like Lillard has an irrational fear of historical zombies, like those wax figures were the real thing brought back from the dead. At least Lillard’s fears don’t effect his game. (Photo: Associated Press) Portland’s star point guard is averaging 19.1 points per game and 6.1 assists in his first season with the NBA. He had 20 points and five assists in Portland’s loss to the Wizards, so at least his fears didn’t shake him up too much. With Portland set to take on Boston tonight—another historical city—things won’t get much better for Lillard. CLICK HERE CHECK OUT OUR TRAIL BLAZERS BLOG AT THE NWSB!
