Boston HeraldGiven the benefit of playing time against the Hawks, Daniels came off the bench with season-high totals in points (12), rebounds (eight) and a career-high four steals. “He was terrific,” said Rivers. “The best game he may have played this year. He was terrific, and he did a lot of things. The little baskets and the rebounds — he had eight rebounds. It was good to see him compete. He was active, alert, responsive, that’s what you want him to be.” Right now the Celtics 8 man playoff rotation is Rondo, Bradley, Pierce, KG, Bass, Stiemsma, Pietrus, and Ray. It appeared Sasha won the "If Ray or Pietrus has to sit out, backup wing role," but things can change. Marquis right now is fighting for that role. I'm a fan of Pavlovic, but I almost must say that Marquis isn't as poor a player as he's shown this season. I remember in the 2009/2010 season Tony Allen was a forgotten man early on, but by the playoffs he had jumped into the rotation. The key for gu...

Doc Rivers spent extra time investigating Sean Williams’ personality

Kevin Garnett recently called creating chemistry one of the toughest things to do in basketball, but these Celtics have managed to build an environment in which 15 players care about wins more than anything else. Doc Rivers does not want to threaten that growing bond, which is why he spent additional time investigating Sean Williams’ personality before the Celtics acquired him...

Doc Rivers tanks game, shows confidence in Celtics

For months Doc Rivers has claimed to value health over home court advantage. Not that we didn’t believe him, but we figured that if the Celtics entered the stretch run needing one specific win to help secure home court, Rivers would make at least a slight attempt to win the outing. The Celtics entered last night with the perfect opportunity to earn the right to host in the first...

Rajon Rondo Will Not Shy From Contact, So Playing It Safe With Sore Back a Good Decision

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Rajon Rondo's lower back feels fine and he could play any time, as long as he does not draw any hard contact. That calls to mind that old joke about the patient and the doctor. Patient: "Doctor, it hurts when I do this." Doctor: "OK, so don't do that." In Rondo's case, it is not that simple. Celtics coach Doc Rivers cannot tell Rondo...

Vote: Which Celtics' Player Has Been Biggest Surprise This Season?

The Boston Celtics have turned critics' opinions around over the past month and a half, with some strong play from both their starters and off the bench. Kevin Garnett's re-emergence as both a defensive stopper and legitimate offensive threat has received the majority of the attention for Boston's turnaround. However, the big man's impressive play hasn't been...

Your Morning Dump... Where Doc is happy with the scrubs

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Once Rivers returns to his playoff rotation...

Hate has made Heat-Celtics rivalry great

BOSTON On Tuesday, very quietly, a great rivalry may come to an end. The versions of the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat that play one another Tuesday night are likely to be watered down by injuries and coaches looking to give their stars a rest. Chris Bosh has not played in a week, Dwyane Wade has aged before our eyes and probably needs rest, and even LeBron James has eaten enough...

Comments from the other side - Hawks 4/20

This was a fun game.   Even though the Celtics lost, I loved how the young guys gave the Hawks starters all they could handle.  I know Pachulia and Horford were out,  but that doesn't compare to the Celtics top 5 players being out.   I think Hawks fans got the message too.  Never saw fans so depressed about a win.  Enjoy today's comments... Boston is sitting everyone...
